Hello everybody!
I have some exciting news to share with you today! Our very own Deacon Greg Gitschier (the Sneakin’ Deacon) has been selected for the 2023 Catholic Education Foundation Community Service Award. This is a recognition of the good work he does for our community, his service to Saint Mary’s Center (www.saintmaryscenter.org) and Kids Cancer Alliance (www.kidscanceralliance.org), and his ministry as Chaplain to five local police departments. The Catholic Education Foundation supports Catholic schools and education in the Archdiocese of Louisville through tuition assistance and grants. Many members of our community generously support the mission of the CEF and their signature fundraising event is the Salute to Catholic School Alumni Dinner, at which Deacon Greg will receive the award. You can find out more about the Salute Dinner here: https://www.ceflou.org/2023-salute-to-alumni-dinner-page-2023/. Congratulations Deacon Greg!
I have more exciting news! We have met and far surpassed our goal for participation in the Catholic Services Appeal. If you recall, our goal was 333 donors, but to encourage even more generosity for over 100 ministries and services in the Archdiocese of Louisville funded by CSA, we set our own stretch goal of 400 donors. You shattered that goal. As of today, we have 498 donors! That’s 150% of our original goal and the most donors for any parish in the Archdiocese of Louisville. You are amazing! Special thanks to Lynne Marshall, our Director of Engagement, and Dr. Nathan Sturtzel, our Principal, along with all of the staff and volunteers who contributed to this success. Every donation is significant and I am grateful for your generosity and especially thankful for the increase in donors from our families with children in our school. Way to go, everybody! Thank you!
We are blessed in order to be a blessing for others. Thank you for being a blessing to me and to so many others. It is through your faith in action that our community is a beacon of Christ’s love. God bless you!
Peace,
Fr. Jeff
