Party House Measures to Be Voted on at the January 27th Town Council Meeting
As most of you know, the Town has been holding study sessions on potential amendments to the Town’s Code, which will help rein in disruptive and destructive short-term rental properties (STRs). These amendments are allowed under the health and safety provisions in the State law.

These code changes will be voted on during the January 27th Town Council business meeting. You can review the PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the changes here. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm be held via Zoom. We encourage residents to make their views known on STRs when this agenda item is heard during the meeting.

In general, the proposed code amendments for Council consideration on January 27 will:

  • Expand the definition of “special events” to capture problem activities
  • Require standard health & safety measures to protect renters
  • Expand existing noise regulations to capture nuisance issues
  • Make emergency contact numbers publicly available.

Speakers are asked to limit their comments to three minutes or less. If you wish to speak during the meeting, click on this link, search for the meeting date, and click “eComment” on the far right side. Locate the agenda item and click “Register to Speak”. You may also contact the Town Clerk's office by sending an email to dmiller@paradisevalleyaz.gov. Then be sure to join the Zoom meeting at 6:00 pm on January 27th.

Last year, the Paradise Valley Police Department produced the video below to help educate the public and our lawmakers on the seriousness of this issue.
Five Star Submits Plans to Scottsdale for Approval
Five Star Development has submitted plans with the City of Scottsdale for a six-story, 41-unit luxury residential development with retail and restaurant space. The plans also include a 90-foot high building, called the Fendi Residences at the Palmeraie.

The plans for the Fendi Residences at the Palmeraie have been submitted to the City of Scottsdale. Since it is located in the City of Scottsdale, it will be reviewed and permitted by the City. The project is adjacent to Five Star's Ritz-Carlton development and residences at Scottsdale Road and Indian Bend Road. The plans can be viewed here, here, and here.

Artist-in-Residence Bobby Lee Krajnik Show at Town Hall
Meetings at Town Hall are by appointment only due to COVID restrictions, but did you know you can still view our artist-in-residence's show?

Bobby Lee Krajnik's show will be on display through September 2022 in the Town Hall Council Chambers. The show is free to the public

You can view the show anytime during regular Town Hall hours (M-F, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm). We have the door to the Council Chamber closed at this time, but if you asked at the Post Office window, they will be happy to let you in to view her artwork.

As described on her website, Bobby Lee Krajnik uses a rich palette to create vibrant playful landscapes. Her work has been influenced by the history and beauty of the Southwest landscape, and also the iconic and traditional folkart of Mexico. Her current series “Missiones” is based on sanctuaries of the Southwest and Mexico.

“I am drawn to the rich histories, weathered exteriors and hand construction of these special buildings. To me they represent community.”

Next time you are in the vicinity, or picking up stamps at the Post Office, treat yourself to a moment to enjoy some art. You will not regret it!
