Dumping bulky items like old couches, tv's and mattresses on the curb and on the sidewalks makes our city look dirty. It is also illegal and can result in a fine up to $1,000.
For property owners who want to reduce illegal dumping in front of or near their property, we have listed some tips below to help. Just like some other crimes, it can be difficult to completely stop it from happening, but we can work together to reduce it to the fullest extent.
- Inform neighbors, tenants, and guests to schedule a bulky item pickup with Athens Services before placing furniture, mattresses, and other items out near the curb.
- Install real or fake security cameras to help catch who is doing the dumping.
- Install "No Dumping" signs around your property. These are commonly found at hardware stores and there are many affordable options online as well.
- Keep the exterior of the property well lit to help reduce illegal dumping and other crimes.
- Print out Bulky Item flyers to hand out to tenants, neighbors, and guests.
- Report items as soon as you see them. If it is in front of your property call, Athens Services to schedule a pickup. If you see it somewhere else, contact NIS at (626) 308-2826 or Public Works at (626) 308-2825.
If you see someone ACTIVELY dumping bulky items anywhere in the City of San Gabriel, please call the non-emergency number at the San Gabriel Police Department (626) 308-2828 to report the violation. This can help us stop repeat violators.

626 Golden Streets is returning on Sunday, May 1, 2022! They will be re-visiting the classic Mission to Mission route highlighting historic areas and business districts of San Gabriel, Alhambra and South Pasadena.
Given the multi-city scale of all 626 Golden Streets events, hundreds of volunteers are needed to successfully open up miles of streets for walking, biking, skating and more.
Volunteer shifts are available for morning and afternoon, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the festivities. Volunteers will also receive some special perks only available to those who donate their time to make 626 Golden Streets possible!
If you are interested in volunteering, please advise on your shift preferences, t-shirt size, and other key details by filling out this form.
More information will be given out closer to the event by organizers of 626 Golden Street.

Are you a member of a larger group or business that is interested in lending a hand? Volunteer groups are eligible for special benefits (while supplies last) such as complimentary booth space at an event hub. The 10x10 space fee will be waived for groups that commit a minimum of 5 volunteers. The space could be used to fundraise, promote future events and charter local supporters.
