During Black History Month we take time to recognize and honor the many contributions and sacrifices made by Black individuals throughout history. At UWCFA, we believe that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to thrive, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or background. We are proud to support initiatives and programs that work towards ending systemic inequities and creating a more equitable future for all.

Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond

We are proud to support Pine Forest Cemetery and its important legacy in our community. This historic cemetery has served as the final resting place for many individuals, including many notable residents who have contributed to the rich history of Wilmington, North Carolina. In addition to its historical significance, Pine Forest Cemetery has a special legacy as a place intended for burying enslaved individuals and people of color. Through the efforts of its Board of Directors and volunteers, Pine Forest Cemetery continues to be a valuable resource for our community, providing an important window into our shared history. We are honored to partner with Pine Forest Cemetery to ensure that this legacy is preserved for future generations to come.

211 is Help and Connection
|
Did you know that February 11th was National 211 Day? This day celebrates the vital resource that connects individuals and families with important services in their community.
We’re thrilled to support the 211 helpline, which provides assistance to those in need throughout Columbus, Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties. In fact, in 2021 alone, 211 received over 6,400 requests for help across these counties.
To learn more about the important work of 211 and how it's helping to address the top needs in our community, check out our recent blog post.
