PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Chris.jpg

Pine Lane Crew,

It has been a cold and fun week.  Seeing all the Ties, Tutus, and Tiara’s on Tuesday, 2/22/2022 was so much fun.  We also had a school-wide dance party at 2:22 pm. Students have continued to plug away at their learning.  3rd grade is working hard to master two step word problems in math and 6th grade is learning about the space race during Language Arts. We have survived indoor recess due to the frigid temperature and we were excited to get outside today and play.  Our 5/6 Battle of the Books team is moving onto the semifinals and we are so proud of them and thier hard work.  We are also wrapping up our Pine Lane Blood Drive through Vitalint.  If you have not participated in this effort we encourage you to sign up and help Pine Lane contribute to a better world.  We will be raffling off some awesome PLE Swag to those who have participated.

Today we are concluding our work around our habit of character “Accountability.” Our Discovery Crew has created this video to highlight what it means to show Accountability in all areas of our lives: Accountability.  Discovery Crew thank you for your leadership in these efforts and reminding us that as PLE BEARS we own our choices, are responsible for our words and actions, accept the consequences of our choice, words, and actions.  Our next habit of character is respect and will be led by our Kindergarten and in April.

This week our SAC/PTO met to continue to work on improving what we do at Pine Lane.  I am so grateful for this committed group of people who volunteer their time regularly to help us with the work of empowering our students.  This week we highlighted for them the importance of our Specials Program at Pine Lane.  We have a very robust specials program that provides our students with opportunities in PE, Music, STEM, Art, Computer Science, Spanish, Library, and Social Emotional Learning. I have clipped the presentation that our Specials team gave from our SAC meeting last Wednesday night: SAC Specials Presentation.  I’d encourage you all to take a moment to watch and also ask your child about what they are learning in Specials.  Thank you to our Specials Teachers for creating meaningful and engaging experiences for all our students.

We are quickly approaching Spring Break and Parent Teacher Conferences.  Every year around that time we ask for your partnership on two things.  1) We need your feedback on how we are doing.  Next week we will be sending out our annual Parent/ Guardian Feedback Survey.  From that information we seek to make improvements for the following year. And 2) We will be sending our Intent to Return and Class Placement Parent Input Form.  This the last quarter of the year we work hard to ensure we place each student in the best possible environment for learning.  Ensuring we have accurate information on who is returning any insights from you on your child’s needs is extremely helpful.

Thank you all for your partnership as we seek to empower excellence in character, achievement, and contribution to a better world.  Have a great weekend!

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Dear Sierra Middle School Families and Community,

On Tuesday, March 1st from 6:00-7:30pm, the College Funding Coach will offer a free web workshop. There is no cost (except your time) to attend.

As you can imagine, the stock market has gone up and gone down. Taxes have gone up and gone down. Unemployment has increased and then decreased. But two things have remained constant every year: approximately 20 million high school students head off to college, and since 2000, the cost of tuition and fees at American colleges has more than tripled the rate of inflation.

Whether you have a preschool student or a senior in high school, you will learn valuable information that is timely for you. I have seen the workshop and am excited to participate.

I've attached a flyer about The College Funding Coach event.

Register by clicking on the following link: College Funding Coach Registration

While the event is free of charge, registration is appreciated.
