WOLFHOUND WEDNESDAY
December 8, 2021
On Monday, Saint Nicholas Day, children enjoyed a surprise visit from Saint Nicholas on horseback!
The O'Reilly Minute
Dear Parents,

This week has been busy! Not only have we been celebrating the 2nd week of Advent, but we also had a visit from Saint Nicholas on his horse to celebrate his December 6th feast day, and today we attended Mass to celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Additionally, our grade 5 - 8 choir filled the air with Christmas music with their beautiful performance in our candlelit church on Monday evening. We are also excited to announce that we have reached our goals for our toy collections - see the details below!  So many wonderful opportunities to pray, celebrate, serve and enjoy this beautiful and holy time of year.

Just a quick reminder that on Friday we will be hosting our “Twas the Night Before Christmas” event. Our students and staff are invited to wear school-appropriate pajamas to school on December 10th for a Christmas movie and popcorn treat provided by our Annual Fund donations. Also on this day, our wonderful cafeteria staff has designed for us to enjoy a special creatively green lunch inspired by Dr. Seuss’s book and movie The Grinch.

New student registration is now open and available on our new school website. Please consider inviting neighbors, co-workers or extended family members to give the gift of Catholic education to their children for the coming school year. Current student re-enrollment will begin January 7th and will be a streamlined process through the FACTS family portal. More information will be available in the new year.

Advent Blessings,
Kathy O’Reilly

Gratitude Wall for Teachers & Staff
Home & School is working on a school Gratitude Wall during the month of December. This is a wonderful opportunity to share our feelings of gratitude and our many blessings with our teachers and the school staff that work so hard and care so much.

Grab a notecard or a Post-It note and share with the staff why you feel blessed to be part of our school community. Or share why you are grateful to a particular staff member or a team of people at our school. We will display these notes for all to see in the cafeteria. It is a wonderful way to start out the season of Advent - by sharing feelings of blessings and gratitude. Please take a moment to let our teachers and staff know how much they mean to us and how truly special they are.

Simply jot down what you would like to share on the Post-It note or a notecard and send it in to the school. You or your child can drop them off with Sandy Peecook in the school office during the month of December. It can be as simple as a thank you. This project is for parents, grandparents, students, or anyone that would like to express their gratitude for our amazing school and school staff.

Advent Toy Collections Update
All Goals Were Met!
Thank you Saint Brigid Families! As of today, we have met our goal of 333 toys for this week's toy drive to benefit Basement Blessings in Lewis Center, AND we have already met our goal of 60 items for next week's toy drive to benefit the Our Lady of Guadalupe Center in Columbus!  It was so beautiful to see all of our families come together to support all three toy drives, and we are in the process of distributing over 1,038 new and look-like-new toys to these three organizations! May the Holy Trinity bless each and every one of you so abundantly during this Advent season - and always!

PS - Our next drive will be our Lenten food drive. We will share the details for this drive in the new year.
Christ Child Book Drive Thank You
old_hard_cover_books.jpg
From Christ Child Society:

A huge thank you to all of your students and staff for supporting the Christ Child Society of Columbus in our book drive for the children in need in our communities. One of the best indicators of academic success is getting children’s books into homes and then reading them to our kids. Yet, 61 percent of low-income families have no children’s books. Your donation of close to 2,000 books will certainly make a difference and have a positive impact on the children. Your generous donation is beyond anything we could have hoped for and a blessing for the children in need. We are overwhelmed with joy and so grateful for your help in this effort to improve childhood literacy and get books into the hands & homes of the children in need.

With Blessings & Gratitude-
Lisa Davies

Gifts of Gratitude: Teacher & Staff Appreciation Gift
Make your life easier by checking one thing off your Christmas gift list! Donate to Gifts of Gratitude! Home & School has provided you with a convenient way to show your appreciation to the teachers and staff at St. Brigid during Christmas and at the end of the year.

What is it?
Gifts of gratitude was established by the Home and School Association as a united effort to provide a generous monetary gift to every school and parish teacher and staff member at Christmas and the end of the year to thank them for all they do for our children.

Why participate?
This is a convenient way for families to make sure that each teacher, aide, and staff member who touches your child's life is recognized for all they do at St. Brigid.
Instead of several small gifts from each student, each teacher and staff member will receive a monetary gift that they choose how to use--whether they want to splurge on themselves or help with their own family's expenses.

Will my family be recognized for participating?
Yes -- the teachers and staff will receive a list of families who participate in this
program. You may also let the teachers and staff know that you participated in the program by marking "G.O.G" inside your Christmas card to them.

How much do I give?
The suggested annual gift amount is $25 per child once a year, however any given amount is graciously accepted and appreciated!

Can't remember if you already contributed?
No worries -- just contact Sherri Johnson at [email protected] and she will let you know!

You can find the link for Gifts of Gratitude at the button below. Choose your donation amount and that's it. It's that easy! It's such a simple way to show appreciation to your child/children's teachers and the staff at St Brigid of Kildare.

Blood Drive December 13
With the holiday season approaching, the need for blood donation is critical! The Covid-19 pandemic has reduced donations. There is no manufactured equivalent to human blood; it must be donated to the Red Cross and then allocated to hospitals based on levels of need. If you can spare an hour of your time on Monday, December 13, please consider donating in Hendricks Hall from 1:30 - 7:00 pm. The link to schedule an appointment is: RedCrossBlood.org using sponsor code: saintbrigid. You can also call 1-800-RED CROSS to register.

Thank you in advance for considering a donation. It is a perfect Christmas gift!
