NEW SPEED LIMITS

SLOW DOWN

You may have noticed that there are new speed limit signs on 2nd Street through Naples. The speed limit is now 30 MPH, down from 35. 2nd Street in Belmont Shore went from 25 MPH to 20. The speed reductions are part of a city-wide program called Safe Streets Long Beach with the intent to reduce fatal and serious injury collisions to zero by 2026. The Toledo is now 15 MPH down from 25, and Appian Way on Naples is planned for 25 MPH down from 30.

Long Beach’s Short-Term Rental Laws

To Be Reviewed

In the last edition of Naples News, the In the Know article discussed Short Term Rentals and some of the ambiguity of the rules in the Coastal Zone.  In light of the January 2 shooting in the 4th District in front of an STR, the Council is looking at the ordinance sooner than anticipated.  This could also lead towards answering the coastal zone issue.  Councilwoman Kristina Duggan’s office is aware of the interest some Naples residents have in reviewing possible restriction options for Un-Hosted Short Term Rentals. City staff will be bringing this issue back to the City Council in the coming weeks. The update presentation from the December 13 meeting is available on the project website. The biggest takeaway is on Slide 23, Revised Construction Schedule, shows Colorado Street closed until the end of 2024. It shows bridge construction during this tome so this could mean Elliot will remain closed as well.
