Columbus Rescue Mission on the Move!
The Lord has touched many lives through the ministry in its current location but we have often been limited by space and layout. In God's providence and through the help of many people He has provided the mission with a new home in the former Mory's Haven Building at 1112 15th Street in Columbus.

There is lots of work to be done before we will be able to move in but God is faithful and will continue to see us through. Until then we will continue serving the hurting and the homeless in the name of Jesus Christ at our current location, 1471 25th Ave, Columbus, NE 68601.

We will have lots of new information in the weeks to come. If you would like to give for the new building to help with the cost of repairs and renovations you can use the link below or send a check to the mission at PO Box 1604, Columbus, NE 68602.

Praise the Lord for the great things He has done!

December 2021

Spiritual warfare has been much on my mind lately. I am teaching through the armor of God in Ephesians 6 with the youth at my church and warned them to avoid two ditches. One ditch is to assume that there is a demon behind every corner and that every difficulty in life is the result of spiritual attack. The other ditch that must be equally avoided is to assume that nothing is spiritual and that every problem can be fixed as long as you have enough gumption and worldly wisdom.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Spiritual warfare is a constant reality in the ministry of Rescue. Staff and volunteers face much opposition every day from the kingdom of darkness, we must be “strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might” if we are going to stand and be fruitful for the Kingdom of God. The men and women that God brings to our doors also face much opposition. Consequences from sin, broken relationships, discouragement, temptation, hopelessness and so much more comes against our guests every day and in the midst of this holiday season all of these struggles are amplified many times over.

This is why first and foremost we seek to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who come through our doors. True victory and strength is only found in Jesus Christ and we must be found “in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith” Philippians 3:9. When this becomes the foundation of our guests lives, it is then and only then that they can begin to truly stand. It is then that hope can be restored, relationships can be mended, it is then that a life can be transformed.

Please continue to pray for those who graduated our New Life and Healing Heart Programs this year: Aspen, Matt, Jacob, and Jeff. Please pray also for all of our guests and for the current disciples: Casey, Demetrious, John, Steven, and Ed.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Volunteer Makes a Difference at the Mission

Rosalie Hillmer (center) has been volunteering at Living Water Rescue Mission in York for many years. We honored Rosalie at this year’s banquet at Holthus Center as “Rescuer of the Year”. This award goes out every year at the annual banquets in Columbus and York.

Rosalie’s influence reaches women in several ways. She visits the York County Jail once a week to share the Word of God with ladies in the Jail and she always tells them about the discipleship and transitional services available at the Mission. Rosalie teaches our discipleship program ladies how to make her award-winning cinnamon rolls. She also takes the discipleship ladies on a fun getaway at least once a year to Wessels Living History Farm.
Rosalie brings joy, encouragement, and a warm smile with every visit to the Mission. Most importantly, she talks about Jesus in every conversation and with every activity. Program Graduate, Brandi Lutt-Alvarez said; Rosalie could turn a conversation about shoelaces into a lesson about Jesus.” Brandi went on to say that she considers Rosalie as a grandmother.
Although Rosalie was blessed by the Rescuer of the Year award, she would be the first to say; it’s all about Jesus.

New Life Program News

Being at our current location at 1471 25th Ave we are limited with space. By God’s Grace, we will be moving into our new location in the near future which will give us exponentially more room. With that in mind, we can have a maximum of five men in the New Life Discipleship program, which we have currently. Ed and Steven are our newest disciples. They make up our fourth and fifth spots in the program. A month in, both of these men are hungry for Jesus, hungry for living a new life. This road is never easy so please pray for them as it is only the power of God that changes men.

Would You Please Consider Volunteering at the Columbus and Living Water Rescue Mission?

Hebrews 13:16 And don't forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer, however the benefits of volunteering can be enormous to you, your family, and the Rescue Missions in Columbus & York.
