EuropeNow recently published a collection of seven short essays by last year's Germany Today participants. The tour visited German universities in the Ruhr Valley and focused on how German academic institutions collaborate with industry.

Networking Tour and Program

DAAD AInet Fellowship


The DAAD AInet Fellowship is awarded twice a year to a group of outstanding international early career researchers in the field of artificial intelligence. Awardees will be invited to join the Postdoctoral Networking Tour in Artificial Intelligence (Postdoc-NeT-AI), a two-step networking program that offers participants the opportunity to interact face-to-face with leading researchers in Germany, with the aim of initiating collaborations, and creating new research and career opportunities. Additionally, awardees are included in the DAAD AInet Fellows & Alumni Network, offering long-term access to German AI research and bringing together bright researchers from all around the world.

For Undergraduate Pell Grant Recipients

Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarships


The Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship Program provides 40 additional scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students per year who are recipients of Federal Pell Grants to study and/or intern for academic credit in Germany through the Gilman Program. This deadline is for in-person programs or internships that begin between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025.

Information Tour

Germany Today


DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions and funding agencies in the United States and Canada, as well as colleagues from the fields of education policy and politics, to join us for our “Germany Today” Information Tour 2024 from Jun 16-21, 2024. This year’s tour will focus on the opportunities and challenges faced by German universities in the broader context of society, the workforce, and a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment.

Falling Walls Lab San Francisco


Falling Walls Labs are science/innovation slams that take place worldwide. Young researchers, students, and entrepreneurs can pitch their innovative ideas or research that creates a positive impact on science and society to an interdisciplinary jury that will select the winner. Topics can be broad and are not limited to engineering and science. All winners of the Labs worldwide will be invited to the Falling Walls Conference in Berlin in November with all expenses paid.

Transatlantic Tandem Talk

On Thin Ice: Global Impact of Climate Change in the Arctic


The next Transatlantic Tandem Talk presented by the University of Cologne, the DWIH, and partners will feature an expert discussion between Prof. Dr. Janet Rethemeyer from the University of Cologne, Germany, and Dr. Jannik Martens, UoC alumnus and researcher at Columbia University. A virtual tour through the core repository of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University will follow the talk.

Paid Summer Opportunity

GAIN Summer Internship


We are currently accepting applications for a summer internship with the German Academic International Network (GAIN) at the DAAD New York office, starting between May 1 and June 1 to September 15 or 30, 2024. The internship involves assisting with organizing the 24th Annual GAIN Conference of international mobile researchers from Germany. Applicants should be fluent in English and have strong German language skills, have an interest in higher education and science policy, be highly organized and detail oriented, and enjoy being a part of a small team. Prior experience with event planning is a plus. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of $1,500.

Germany's Eurovision Entry

It's official - Isaak will be representing Germany at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden! Isaak beat out eight competitors with his song, "Always on the Run," for a spot in this year's contest.
