MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello Everyone,
I had such an epiphany on the concept of quorum last week when I was attending the Washington PTA business meeting. This year, they separated the state convention (May 6-7) and the business meeting (April 29-30) on a trial basis. The business meeting was a Zoom meeting, and delegates were chosen by their local PTAs to attend. There was the assumption that they would attend, as we needed quorum (a minimum amount of people or delegates to complete business). Here is what happened: WE DID NOT MEET QUORUM. Almost 200 delegates and less than 125 logged in. The meeting that needed votes and voting for next year’s slate of officers for the state PTA was canceled for that day. The hope was that the next day's meeting, we would have quorum and could proceed with voting. But on the next day, WE DID NOT MEET QUORUM. I can’t tell you what the silence was like. We were all shocked. No business, no voting, and having to carve out a day in the future for another business meeting. Well, I will finish this story on a positive note: we had a recess and people rallied to get delegates to log on. Finally, we did meet quorum with 2+ over the required number. The relief was palpable. Our PTSA is having a General Membership meeting on June 1st, and we need quorum to vote on the budget and the slate of officers for next year’s PTSA board. We need you to help us meet quorum and enjoy a great free meal too.
Thank you,

ISPTSA 2023-2024 BOARD NOMINATIONS
The 2023-2024 Board is still looking for Co-VP positions and a Co-Secretary.
A Co position means that you will be working with someone else, not by yourself. If you are worried about not knowing something, don't be, because many of the current board members are returning and you will not be alone. International has a very strong, involved PTSA and we would love to have you join us in supporting our children, our teachers, and our school. Meet new people, make new friends, and discover what is happening at our school and in our district. Join the 2023-2024 International School PTSA Board and be an active participant in shaping our community!
Position descriptions can be found here and here. If you are interested in one of the VP positions as a Co-VP or Co-Secretary please send nominations to nominations@isptsa.org. You can self-nominate or nominate someone you believe in! Questions? Contact the Nominations Committee.

AAPI HERITAGE MONTH
Hi everyone! It’s AAPI Heritage Month in which we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage. The month commemorates the resilience and legacy, traditions, and culture of Asians, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders across the United States. To celebrate at IS, our SOAR (Students Organized Against Racism) team came up with a fun and interactive way to share and learn about AAPI traditions and recipes. Come join our celebration virtually through Padlet! Here is the link to a Padlet, in which you can add your own traditional family recipes, or even just scroll through and try some of them for yourself! Thank you! Questions? Contact Arty Christianto.

PROM NEEDS YOUR HELP!
The long-awaited High School Prom is coming up THIS Saturday, May 13 at the Seattle Asian Art Museum! We are reaching out because we need your help with Prom funds!

In addition, we hope that you encourage your students to purchase Prom tickets as this will be the final dance of our High School years. We greatly need everyone's help.
Thank you so much,
Senior Class ASB Officers
