New Sustainability Course | Building Design for Climate Change Adaptation


Co-taught by Claire Rodgers, adjunct instructor and associate director for sustainability and campus engineering, and Olin instructor Gordana Herning, the course has students explore design solutions for improving the environmental performance of buildings and infrastructure in the context of climate resilience and adaptation.

April Virtual Learning Lab | AI & Society, A Collective Inquiry  

 

Join Annie Zeng '15 every Wednesday in April – 3/10/17/24 7-8:30 ET 


Annie will conduct this 4-part series which will look at how algorithms and digital technology are impacting our world. How should AI be governed? Do you and I have a voice? Are we building the right skills to deal with all that these emerging technologies bring? This will be a mix of reading group and hands-on workshop. Join other alumni in examining what skills we have - or need - in our toolkit to make the right decisions in society, corporations and government today. 

 

Annie holds an MS in Cultures of Art, Science, and Technology from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. She is a researcher/practitioner based in Los Angeles.

Paid Speaking Opportunity | Envision by WorldStrides


Envision by WorldStrides—a COGNIA-certified educational travel organization—is seeking professional engineers to speak at the 2024 National Youth Leadership Forum on Engineering, an engineering camp for high schoolers. During the one-hour speaking event, a speaker will dedicate 20-30 minutes to sharing with the scholars (~100 total) about their career journey, details about their engineering specialty, and advice for aspiring engineers. The remainder of the time will be spent answering questions from the scholar audience. Envision by WorldStrides offers a $500.00 honorarium per speaker in appreciation of their time. The program will take place on campus at the following locations:

  • Olin College of Engineering
  • Session 1: July 6, 2024 – July 13, 2024
  • University of California, Berkeley
  • Session 1: July 6, 2024 – July 13, 2024
  • Session 2: July 15, 2024 – July 22, 2024
  • Georgia Institute of Technology

Each speaking event takes place at 7:00-8:00pm, and there are numerous speaker time slots available at each location.
