Purchase your Football Squares today!
Join in the fun and help the Chamber raise some funds! For the second year in a row, the Chamber is sponsoring a ‘Football Squares’ contest in conjunction with the "Big Game". To enter this game of chance, you purchase one or more squares from a 10 x 10 grid. Each square costs $75. Individuals may purchase more than one square if desired.

at the Samoset Glacier Ice Bar

Network with your business peers at one of the hottest and coolest lounges in the region! Our thanks to Camden National Bank for sponsoring this Chamber event at the Samoset Glacier Ice Bar. This event has been specially planned for Chamber members, above and beyond the Samoset's regular Ice Bar weekends.

Generous hors d’oeuvres, complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks will be provided. Plus, the Glacier Ice Bar will be in full operation if you choose to purchase your own specialty cocktails.

This will primarily be an outdoor event, so please dress appropriately. Masks will be required inside the Samoset.

PLEASE NOTE: pre-registration is required for this event, as attendance will be limited. The Chamber reserves the right to prioritize attendance to individuals employed by Chamber members, should we reach capacity.
On The Horizon: A Preview of the Second Session of the 130th Maine Legislature

The First Regular Session of the 130th Maine Legislature adjourned in early July, but that doesn’t mean the work is finished. Several unresolved issues are now carry-over bills to be dealt with during the Second Regular Session which convenes in January 2022. Call for Nominations – Maine Tourism Awards
The Maine Office of Tourism invites you to nominate candidates to be recognized for outstanding contributions to Maine’s tourism industry at the 2022 Governor’s Conference on Tourism to be held April 13-14th in Portland.

Awards will be given in four categories:
  • Marketing & Promotion
  • Leadership & Growth
  • Innovation & Creativity
  • Governor’s Award for Tourism Excellence

2022 tax filing season begins January 24
The Internal Revenue Service announced that the nation’s tax season will start on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, when the tax agency will begin accepting and processing 2021 tax year returns. The January 24 start date for individual tax return filers allows the IRS time to perform programming and testing that is critical to ensuring IRS systems run smoothly. Updated programming helps ensure that eligible people can claim the proper amount of the Child Tax Credit after comparing their 2021 advance credits and claim any remaining stimulus money as a Recovery Rebate Credit when they file their 2021 tax return. After a 30+ year hiatus, The Grasshopper Shop of Rockland we will be opening a new location in Belfast, home of the original Grasshopper Shop! Camden National Bank Finances Low-Income Housing Facility, Freedom Place
Freedom Place, located at 66 State Street in Portland, celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony, sponsored by Camden National Bank that included a tour of the new space and had special guest, Governor Janet T. Mills. The renovated, three-story building, was converted by Developers Collaborative to provide low-income housing and services to women who are experiencing homelessness and struggling with substance use disorder. Camden National Bank not only financed a majority of the $6.5 million project, but also contributed equity that will be repaid through receipt of federal historic tax credits over the course of five years.
