Concord Township is seeking nominations for 2022 Citizen of the Year. If you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their time and effort for the benefit of our township, please consider nominating them for Citizen of the Year. Requirements for candidates include being a resident of Concord Township, and contributing toward the betterment of our community in some way. Keep in mind that Citizens of the Year can be almost anyone, including the folks who volunteer for big projects that really make a difference, as well as the quiet heroes on your block that exemplify neighborhood friendship. Download the nomination form and send it in today! The deadline has been extended to July 8th.

Concord Township Neighborhood Softball Teams Now Forming!

Softball.png

All Concord Township neighborhoods are encouraged to enter the annual Concord Township HOA Softball Tournament, scheduled for Labor Day weekend (Saturday/Sunday games). This beloved tradition is for Concord residents only, or those who grew up in Concord and parents still live here. Players must be 15 or older. Organize a team for your neighborhood, or play on an existing team!

For more information or to sign up, contact the Recreation Department at Recreation@concordtwp.com or call 440-639-4650.

Volunteers Needed!

The Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to help build a large raised garden bed behind our Old Stone School for a special Garden Club project. This would make a perfect Eagle Scout Project, or provide service hours for students who want to make a difference in our community. This could also be a great family or club volunteer project. For details, contact Recreation@concordtwp.com or call 440-639-4652.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

Troy Yoder

Congratulations to Lieutenant Troy Yoder on receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration from Kent State University. Troy joined Concord Fire in 2005, completed paramedic school in 2006, and pursued numerous fire trainings offered over the years. Troy stated, “I started college directly out of high school and completed 40 credit hours when I changed course and went into the fire service. The management, leadership and financial courses I’ve completed at Kent will help me in my new role as Lieutenant”.

Three additional firefighters completed advanced trainings recently at BGSU State Fire School. Captain Tyrone Bilal completed Fire Officer III training focusing on advanced leadership skills and insight into the managerial/administrative aspect of the fire service. Firefighter/Paramedic Joe Gigliotti and Firefighter/Paramedic Lenny Meeks completed courses to obtain their Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification. They returned to Concord Township with advanced knowledge in fire and life safety codes, recognizing hazards, understanding fire protection systems and analyzing code compliance.

We commend all of their hard work, dedication to advancing their education and commitment to keeping Concord Township safe.

Have a happy and safe July 4th.

ZONING DEPARTMENT

Garage Sale Sign

Garage Sales. As some residents may be preparing to hold a garage sale in the upcoming months, please keep in mind the following zoning requirements pertaining to garage sales and allowable temporary signs:

  • Garage sales shall not occur any more than 3 times in any 12 month period, for no more than 72 hours for each event.
  • One temporary sign promoting a garage sale or other similar household sale is allowed, provided such sign is located on the property on which such sale will occur.
  • In addition, one off-site directional sign is allowed, with the permission of the off-site property owner.
  • Signs must be located at least 10 feet from the road right-of-way and 10 feet from side property lines.
  • Signs cannot be posted on utility poles, street signs, traffic control devices, or within any public right-of-way.

While a permit is not required for temporary garage sale signs, any sign not displayed in accordance with these requirements will be removed by the Zoning Department. Good luck with your sales and have a safe and happy summer!
