The Cary Library

Reference Desk

... a gateway to knowledge, advice, and answers to your most compelling questions!

Helping You

Take a moment to meet the Cary Library reference librarians! Each have their own personal interests and a wide range of knowledge. They can assist with the simplest questions (Where’s the Children's Room?) to deeply focused research, and even hyper-local questions (Do you have a copy of the 1972 Lexington High School yearbook?).

If they do not know the answer, they know how to help you find it, not only in the relevant books, but also through access to a multitude of online databases (such as ancestry.com), and international periodicals (example, The London Times); connecting you to sources of knowledge encompassing everything from what is on the shelves to the world of digitized materials.

Over time, there has been the shift to e-resources accessing materials from across the globe. These resources are available to you through your computer at home using the library network. The reference librarians are available to help you navigate this virtual world, enabling you to find what you need through sources that are both reliable - and fascinating!

Funds from the Cary Library Foundation are used to add to the collections of materials as recommended by our Cary reference librarians. Your support makes this possible!
