RNA Center Manager, Martina Jerant, inducted into "Legends of the Ivy League" Hall of Fame
Prior to her world in RNA, Martina Jerant played basketball for Brown University and led her team to three Ivy League Titles and their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. During her career, she was a three-time First Team All-Ivy selection, the Ivy League’s Rookie of the Year, as well as the Ivy League’s Player of the Year as only a sophomore. Jerant is the all-time leading rebounder in school history.

Martina continued on to play professional and Olympic Basketball before retiring her sneakers for the wonderful world of RNA! Read more>>

The Greene Laboratory at Columbia University in New York City is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers interested in projects related to genome integrity and cancer biology. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or another relevant discipline. Experience with the biochemistry/biophysics of protein-nucleic acids interactions, CryoEM or single molecule imaging is beneficial. Click here for more details or email Prof. Eric C. Greene at: ecg2108@cumc.columbia.edu

RiPCA: An Assay for the Detection of RNA-Protein Interactions in Live Cells, Rosenblum, S. L., & Garner, A. L. (2022) Current Protocols, e358 (2). DOI: 10.1002/cpz1.358

Increasing interest in studying and modulating the interactions between RNAs and their RNA-binding proteins has indicated the need for enabling technologies. Existing means of detecting RNA-protein interactions (RPIs) are often limited to biochemical or post-lysis methods or cell-based methods that require the addition of an RNA-based affinity tag, such as the MS2 hairpin, precluding them from use in detecting small or highly processed RNAs. Taking advantage of bioorthogonal chemistry- and split-luciferase-based technologies, we developed an assay for the detection of RPIs in live cells. This article details the protocol and design considerations for RiPCA, or RNA interaction with Protein-mediated Complementation Assay.
