The ABC of Prayers

While looking through my files about prayer, I found the following, which I wanted to share. To unlock the power of prayer, we can transform our prayer life with these five steps, which are organized under the first five letters of the alphabet.

“A” stands for our need to adore the Lord. We need to be with God, in His presence, and not come in with a “shopping list” of needs and wants.

“B” reminds us to be bold. “Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

“C” is for the need to confess our sins. We must admit openly before Him our need for His mercy and forgiveness. “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves.” (1 John 1:8)

“D” is to describe any situation and talk to Him about it. Describe your petitions and talk with Him about all aspects of the problem. Do not come to God with ready-made solutions. (Philippians 4:6-7)

“E” Is for everything. Bring everything to God — nothing is too small for Him. And always remember that Scripture instructs us to “give thanks in everything.” (Romans 11:36)

We cannot help but grow spiritually if we believe that prayer is the living out of a personal relationship with a loving, Heavenly Father. What part does prayer have in your life?

Remember to end every prayer with “that thy will be done, not ours.”
