Support Ceasefire In Ukraine

Are you wondering what you can do about the war in Ukraine? The images of explosions in neighborhoods and refugees fleeing their homes have been heart-wrenching. Once again we see that the greatest impacts of war inevitably fall upon the most disenfranchised communities.

On February 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he’d ordered Russia’s nuclear forces to change their status to “a special combat duty regime.” If you felt your stress level rise just a bit, that’s understandable. This remark brought the entire world that much closer to a nuclear weapons disaster. The “Doomsday Clock” stands at 100 seconds to midnight — we can’t afford to push it closer to the apocalypse.

International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) has launched an international petition calling for an immediate ceasefire, for NATO and Russia to wholeheartedly renounce the use of nuclear weapons, and for Russia to withdraw its forces from Ukraine. (IPPNW is PSR’s international affiliate.)
Sign-on: Mid-Atlantic Alliance for Climate and Health
As leaders and members of health professional and environmental organizations in Delaware, South Jersey, and Southeastern Pennsylvania, we have formed the Mid-Atlantic Alliance for Climate and Health. We join together to recognize the grave threat that the climate emergency poses to our patients and our neighbors in our entire region. We are here to bring the health perspective to climate issues, to support each other’s work, and to take action.

Add your voice to those of concerned Luzerne County residents and Pennsylvanians from across the Commonwealth by signing the Nacero Petition

Residents living near this plant and the surrounding communities deserve the truth about the traffic, emissions, and other quality of life issues that will be coming with this plant, and assurances that every safety and health study possible will be performed to the satisfaction of residents. We believe in jobs and responsible development, but we don't need something that will ruin our land, air, and water, the way coal mining companies did years ago. The scars are still here and we are still paying for them.
