The 2023 Magnify Voices Expressive Arts Contest is open for submissions now through April 3rd. Submissions for Magnify Voices can be in the form of a short film, song, performance, or interpretive dance (two minutes or less); an essay or poem (1,000 words or less); or a design medium such as a sculpture, photograph, painting or diorama. Ten finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges and will be announced at a celebration event at Plymouth State University’s Silver Hall, in Plymouth, on May 24th along with the People’s Choice Award which will be voted on by the public.

NAMI NH would like to acknowledge Cheryl Guerin as the January Volunteer of the Month. Cheryl came to NAMI NH as a participant in the NAMI Basics Class for parents and caregivers. From there, she became involved as a volunteer, a Life Interrupted speaker, a NAMI Basics Education Program leader, a member of the NH Family Network Grant Oversight Board, and most recently as a member of the NAMI NH Board. She supports several NAMI NH youth focused initiatives hoping to share NAMI NH's goal to improve the lives of all people affected by mental illness and suicide through support, education, and advocacy.

Self-Care is Saving Money

Making your own laundry detergent is not for everyone but there is a lot that is green about it. Green as in the money you can save and the kind of green that means you are being kind to the environment. The recipe I use is liquid but if you prefer powder there are plenty of options online. 

Pro tip: Peppermint essential oil works as a great addition.
