The September 2022 College of Science Graduate Student Newsletter

Grad students at USU are represented by their USU Student Association college senator, as well as a university-wide School of Graduate Studies senator. New officers for 2022-23 are Science Senator Gabriella Cale, an undergrad biology major with a chemistry minor; and Graduate Studies Senator Sarah N. Pope, a doctoral student in cognitive psychology.

Science Unwrapped, the college’s public outreach program, kicks off its 2022-23 “Ch-Ch-Changes” series Friday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. with ecologist and USU alum Ben Abbott in ESLC 130. Inquiring minds of all ages are welcome to this free event. 

Bear River Health Department offers COVID-19 vaccines, including the bivalent booster, with no appointment necessary. You can also find information about campus and other community resources at vaccine.usu.edu.

Registration is open for the 12th annual Hansen Life Sciences Retreat Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22, on the USU campus and at Logan’s Riverwoods Conference Center. The university-wide gathering, hosted by the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, is open to all USU students, faculty and staff involved in the study of biological processes at the molecular level.

USU’s annual ‘A’ Day of Giving encourages Aggies to pull together for 24 hours of giving. This year’s College of Science area of giving impact is the College of Science Scholarship Fund.

The USU Emergency Hardship Fund grants help to students who encounter circumstances that could derail their educational progress.
