PEORIA (February 28, 2024) – The Peoria Park District is proud to host our annual Black History Month Celebration at Proctor Recreation Center on Thursday, February 29 at 6pm.
This year we're turning up the volume with the theme "Music with a Message!" We will be taking a nostalgic journey through the 1960s and beyond, exploring the powerful messages embedded in the music that shaped an era and continues to shape the way we live.
"I am beyond excited for this year's Black History Month Program at Proctor! The focus on the impactful messages in the music of the 1960s and beyond promises to be a soul-stirring journey, and I can't wait to celebrate the rich history of the culture through songs and performances," stated Jalen Jenkins, Community Recreation Coordinator.
The event also includes a "Night at the Museum" informational skit, along with dance performance from the Royal Family Dance Team.
Admission is free, so bring your friends, family, and an open heart to Music with a Message – a Black History Celebration that transcends boundaries and speaks to the soul. Don’t miss this unforgettable night of harmony and heritage!
