MESSAGE FROM YOUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Welcome July! The Horseshoe Bay POA had a very busy June and we are excited to see positive changes take place for the betterment of our community.

We have approved the implementation of an electronic record keeping system that will enable quick and easy access to plans and documents at the POA office.  Additionally, the selection of the first centralized kiosk for mail cluster box units location has been chosen. To address compliance violations that do not fall under city ordinances we have updated our procedures and protocol to better address our resident's concerns. Conceptual plans to improve entry ways into the different neighborhoods have been presented and we are working on implementing the improvement plans, this project will bring an aesthetic refresher to our community.

The Horseshoe Bay Property Owners' Association is excited to commemorate Independence Day on Monday, July 4 with a musical celebration! This year’s theme is CELEBRATE WITH MUSIC – The Spirit of America and we cordially invite all residents and guests to participate in the festivities. We have chosen two well deserved individuals to be our Grand Marshals, we are happy to recognize Mr. Mike Thuss as our Patriotic Grand Marshal and Mr. Bill Rives as our Music Grand Marshal. We also thank the volunteers who have signed up to help out with this celebration.

Horseshoe Bay POA Helpful Tips

The heat is on! Summer calls for sandals, shorts, swimming suits and outdoor activities but please protect your skin from harmful UV exposure. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using a broad-spectrum sunscreen of 30 or higher SPF and water resistant. Apply generously to exposed areas and re-apply about every two hours and immediately after swimming or sweating.

Stay hydrated in the Summer heat by sipping on water throughout the day, don’t wait until you are thirsty, drink up often. Avoid caffeinated beverages because of the diuretic effect of caffeine as it can increase water loss.  Include some water loving veggies and fruits in your diet such as watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, tomatoes and zucchini.

  •  1 cup vanilla yogurt
  •  1 tablespoon of lemon zest
  •  ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  •  3 cups mixed and cleaned fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries) plus a few extra for  garnish.
  •  1 cup meringue cookies, chopped into big chunks
  •  1/2 cup chopped maple or honey roasted almonds

Step One

In a large bowl stir berries with the strawberry preserves and chill for about 20 minutes. In another bowl combine the whipping cream, yogurt, lemon zest and vanilla extract.

Step Two

When everything is chilled fold in gently about two tablespoons of the berry mixture into the whipped cream.  Into clear plastic cups or clear glasses layer whipped cream mixture, berries, meringues and crunchy almonds. Repeat the same layer and top with fresh berries. Serve and enjoy!

The Cluster Box Unit (CBU) subcommittee of the Business and Capital Projects Committee has been very busy and made key decisions in June. The first centralized kiosk location in Horseshoe Bay West is selected. Also, cost estimates for purchase of the CBUs and kiosk construction were presented at the June Board of Directors meeting and approved. Before proceeding, the HSB POA must complete administrative processes to secure the location, receive design approval, and request a permit for construction.

The HSBPOA will continue to provide updates as we move onto the next phase. Thank you for your patience and support.

“Volunteers don't get paid because they're worthless, but because they're priceless” – Sherry Anderson.
