Viking Reminder: H-F will be closed & no classes will be held on Monday, Jan. 17, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. You are encouraged to make it a day ON, instead of a day OFF, by participating in National Day of Service projects, coordinated by the Flossmoor Community Relations Commission! The commission has posted a collection of service projects and/or donation requests online. Take a look at the full project list here — which includes a project sponsored by our National Honor Society to gather donated books for Bernie's Book Bankand thank you for making a difference in our community! Have a safe, long weekend!

Pursuing the Dream: Tonight at 7 p.m.


Be inspired tonight — Wednesday, Jan. 12 — at 7 p.m. in the Mall Auditorium by powerful performances, presentations, visual arts, and much more! Our keynote speaker at this year's Pursuing the Dream will be Donna Miller, Cook County Commissioner for the 6th District. Performances and other speakers will include:

Summer School Sign Up: Jan. 22

District 233 has received funds as a result as the pandemic, allowing H-F High School to offer 2022 Summer School courses (with the exception of Summer Academy, Summer Theatre & Driver Education) plus student transportation at no cost to district families!


Summer School classes will run 8 a.m.-12:50 p.m. Mondays through Fridays June 6-July 15 this summer in the South Building. The courses listed below will be available for Credit Recovery for those students who have failed first semester courses. Credit Recovery courses will be through the online Acellus Program (with the exception of Physics). Teachers will be on campus every day for in-person assistance for students, if necessary.


  • ENGLISH — English 1, English 2 and English 3
  • MATH — Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2/Trigonometry
  • SCIENCE — Biology, Chemistry and Physics (Physics will be an in-person class)


Social Science courses — including World History, U.S. History, Economics and U.S. Government & Politics — will also be available for those students who are interested in opening their schedule up for more electives during the school year. These classes will be held in-person.


Registration for Summer School will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 8 a.m.-Noon in the South Building Cafeteria. They were chosen based on a combination of ACT/SAT test scores, class rank and class size. While the State Scholar recognition does not include a monetary prize, honorees will receive a personalized Certificate of Achievement from ISAC and access to a digital Illinois State Scholar badge to display on their online profiles. Two Posse Scholars from the Class of '22

H-F is proud to announce that now two members of its Class of 2022 have received full-tuition scholarships from the Posse Foundation: Mia Knox and Wynton Wright!


  • Mia will attend Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, where she plans to major in English with a minor in Educational Studies. She strives to be a teacher after college. At H-F, she is enrolled in the Child Development course and participates in a long list of activities, including Friends of Rachel, Inspirational Voices, Poetic Expression and the H-F chapter of the National Honor Society.


  • Wynton will attend the U. of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisc., to major in Civil Engineering. At H-F, Wright is enrolled in College Engineering and Project Lead the Way courses and is the percussion section leader for the H-F Band. He has also participated in Boys’ Tennis, French Club, Mathletes, Student Government Executive Board, and the H-F chapters of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honors Society, the French National Honor Society and the National Honor Society.


The Posse Scholarship program places students in supportive, multicultural groups of 10 students (posses) at select colleges and universities. Posse Scholars graduate from college at a rate of 90%. Since 1989, Posse’s partner colleges have awarded $1.6 billion in scholarships to scholars, and since 2001, Posse Scholars and alumni have won more than 600 prestigious national fellowships. Over the past decade, H-F High School has had 13 students honored with a Posse Scholarship!
