Strategic Planning & Workgroups

To bring all voices to the table and prepare for our upcoming grant deliverables, we have launched virtual workgroups. At these workgroups, we discuss and plan upcoming events, community outreach, and coalition building. For the month of December we will be creating and emailing an interactive Google Document for off-line editing of the 2022 Strategic Plan.

Also, our new Youth Engagement Workgroup is planning youth listening sessions for the 2022 calendar year. If you are interested in this or other opportunities please get in touch!

Port Angeles 2021 Community Survey

Brief, Anonymous, Helpful

To assess and respond to the needs of young people in Port Angeles, the Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition is participating in the annual Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) Community Survey. For over a decade, Washington Health Care Authority's CPWI has conducted a statistically valid community survey to learn more about the impact of underage substance use across the state.

The mission of the Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition is to prevent substance misuse in childhood, adolescence and young adulthood through unified, community action. All children, regardless of their genetics, are at some risk of misusing substances like alcohol, cannabis and prescription medications. According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, substance use disorder is the nation's largest preventable and costly health problem. Our shared hope is to prevent young people from developing an unhealthy relationship with substances and improve mental health outcomes.

We encourage all Port Angeles residents, and professionals working in our community to participate in this annual survey, available online until December 16. Community members and partners are welcome to reach out to the Coalition directly to provide additional input by emailing rray@co.clallam.wa.us.

Youth Concerns Port Angeles

Collaboration, Evidence-based Approaches, Community Mobilization

In celebration of our community-based prevention work, the Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition is inviting leaders from youth-serving institutions in Port Angeles to a conversation over brunch.

Together we will identify areas of hope and concern, share resources, update each other on trends and activities, and discover possibilities for collaboration. Our overarching goal is to align services and ensure the community safety net is intact to meet the needs of young people in Port Angeles.

This virtual event will take place on December 16th, 2021, from 10:30 am - 11:50 am and will be followed by a Community Town Hall Meeting from 12 pm - 1 pm, with an optional Q&A from 1 pm - 1:30 pm.

Registration has been extended and will close on December 9th. Email rray@co.clallam.wa.us to learn more.
