Community Tree Has Arrived!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! We're getting ready for this year's festivities, with the arrival of the Community Tree! This year, the tree, which is a joint effort between Gloucester Parks, Recreation & Tourism and the Gloucester Main Street Association, is placed in front of the Gloucester Museum of History instead of the Court Circle, because of ongoing construction there.

The tree will officially be lit on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m.

County Continues to Seek Volunteers for Local Committees

Several volunteer opportunities remain available for Gloucester residents interested in serving their community. Gloucester County is looking for citizens to serve on several local committees, as there are multiple vacancies and not enough people to fill them. The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors regularly seeks citizens on these board-appointed groups that advise and assist the governing body with many aspects of County government.

Currently, there are openings for residents who wish to serve on the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Board of Equalization. For the Board of Equalization, volunteers are needed who have experience in commercial/residential real estate appraisal, building, developing, legal or financial professions.

If interested in becoming involved in local government and helping to serve the community, consider submitting your information to the Gloucester County Volunteer Board Bank, which provides members of the board of supervisors with the names and background information of interested citizens. To do so, visit www.gloucesterva.info (click on Board of Supervisors / Boards and Commissions); or call the County’s Community Engagement and Public Information office at 804-693-5730.
