MOURN WITH THOSE WHO MOURN

Please join us in prayers of support for the Howard Bryant family after our dear sister, Pearl, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 11. On February 22, there will be a visitation at 10am and service at 11am at the church to celebrate Pearl's life. See the email with details here.

Please pray also for Nancy Benson after the passing of her granddaughter, Stella, whom she raised, as well as for Tonya Benson, Stella's mother. Stella passed away on Monday, February 12. May Jesus surround Nancy, Tonya, and their family with His peace and comfort. (A memorial service will take place at our church on Saturday, March 2nd.)

DONATIONS FOR THE YOUTH AUCTION

It's that time of year again! We are eagerly looking forward to our youth spaghetti dinner and auction happening Friday, April 12. This is our biggest youth fundraiser of the year! Most of the funds raised go toward our youth mission trip.

In preparation for our event, we invite you to consider donating an item or service that can be auctioned! You can give household items, describe a baked good or food item you will bring to the auction, or offer a service. Some examples of donations given in the past have been babysitting services, yard work, furniture, cakes and lasagna dinners. Please submit blue donation slips (available at the Info Desks in the Sanctuary) to Pastor Brie with details of what you plan to donate (or along with your physical item) by March 28. Thank you in advance for your wonderful support for our youth through the auction!

STOCK THE SHELVES

Over the past few months, many from our church family have supported Haitian immigrants coming to the country later this month by preparing a local house. This help included painting and donations for household goods. Now, we'd like to stock the shelves! If you took a card from the board in the lobby, please remember to bring the items to the church by tomorrow, February 18! There will be designated individuals ready to help you put the items in the proper places. Contact Pastor Lynda with any questions.

CLASSICS LUNCH WITH THE BUNCH

The Classics (55+) are meeting for a lunch with the bunch tomorrow, February 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Hoss's (9009 Bridge Road, Hummelstown). Please RSVP to smsawatzky@gmail.com or 717-323-2982.

MOSAICS MEAL

Mosaics Meal is a favorite event in the life of our church! Each year, we come together to celebrate our ethnic and cultural diversity through fellowship and lots of delicious food. Please plan to join us on Sunday, February 25 at 5:15pm in the sanctuary.

We'll send a separate email with all of the details, but here's a summary: Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring an ethnic dish/family recipe of choice and/or a dessert. Please plan to bring two pans of the same dish so we can have two identical serving lines. This helps us move everyone through the line more quickly! (For your convenience, disposable pans are available on the island in the main kitchen - feel free to take two for your dish.) We'll also need some volunteers for this evening. If you're willing to lend a hand (there will be a variety of needs), contact Pastor Hank!

MARCH ROOTED SERIES

Rooted is a foundational 4-week series providing an overview of Harrisburg BIC, from our history and our commitment to multiethnic community to what it means to participate in the life of HBIC today. This is an opportunity for long-time attenders to gain a fresh vision of who we are as an (ever-changing) community of faith. Rooted can also help newcomers to answer questions and dive into deeper involvement in this community!

Our Rooted classes take place on Sunday mornings at 11am and run for 4 weeks in January, March, May, July, September and November. Sign up for our next Rooted class, starting on March 3here or at the Info Desks at the back of the sanctuary.

CLASSICS & YOUNG ADULT BOARD GAME NIGHT

The Classics game night will be on Friday, March 8 at 6:30pm in the CE Room. The Young Adults are invited to join the Classics in playing board games. Ice cream will be provided and you may bring your favorite topping to share. Contact Sheldon Sawatzky or Pastor Brie with questions!

MINISTRY FAIR

Wondering what serving opportunities are available at HBIC? Join us for a Ministry Fair on Sunday, March 17! The church staff and other leaders will be in the Open Area from 10am to 11am and from 12pm to 1pm. Come to ask questions and explore your best fit!

EASTER OUTREACH SERVING OPPORTUNITIES

Basketful of Blessings is our annual Easter outreach event where we share baskets of goodies as well as practical items for the family with local children. This year, you can help us serve our community on Friday, March 29 (preparing baskets, set-up) and/or Saturday, March 30 (passing out baskets, greeting families, clean-up). Please sign up here if you are interested in volunteering! Registration to receive baskets will open on March 4.

YOUTH LOCAL MISSION TRIP

All youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited to consider applying for our 2024 Local Mission Trip happening June 23-28! Watch our intro video here!

We are very excited about this opportunity where we’ll be serving our immediate neighborhood, partnering with local service organizations and helping some of our congregants with small house projects/needs. During our time together, we’ll be learning about serving others as we look at Scripture and hear from local ministry leaders. We'll also have time set aside just for fun! Please see an email from Pastor Brie with more details and the application.

WINTER WEATHER UPDATES

If we need to communicate with you about a cancellation, delay, or online-only service due to inclement weather, we will do so through a banner on the top of the church website, a mass email, and an announcement through the local news tv channel (ABC27 and CBS21). Please check these locations if you are wondering about the status of programming!

During 2024, the HBIC Missions Ministry Team is highlighting a different Missionary of the Month, helping the congregation to know more about their work and inviting special prayer for them throughout the month.

Throughout the month of February, please join in praying especially for Zach and Rosario Dalton. Zach has been living and serving in Bogotá, Colombia, Rosario's home, for almost 9 years. During February, Zach and Rosario will be moving to Harrisburg, transitioning to life and kingdom-building ministry here in the US.

As they transition to our area, this will be a significant time for us to support them in prayer. Click here to access the Missionaries of the Month page with a number of specific prayer requests for Zach and Rosario, along with their contact info to send a note of encouragement.

(Touch base with Pastor Lynda or others on the Missions Ministry Team if you'd like to know more about any of the missionaries sent out from HBIC.)

We welcome you to contact us by email or by phone if you have a need. Here is the contact information for our pastoral and office staff.
