106th Home Groundbreaking Ceremony
We have officially broken ground on our 106th home! On Saturday, December 18, over 50 people gathered at 506 Wye Street in Denton to witness the Groundbreaking Ceremony that marked the beginning of the 2021 Interfaith Build, as well as the beginning of a brighter future for the Crawford Family.

Levatta Crawford and her five children are such a sweet family, and we are honored to partner alongside them as they build their future. Her youngest and only son, Keenen, got a lot of attention on Saturday, with many people asking him if he was getting excited to finally have his own room!

Special thanks to our Interfaith Partners and Ruth's Room for supporting this home: Baha'i Faith Center, Creekwood Christian Church, Faith Lutheran Church, Flower Mound United Methodist Church, Islamic Association of Lewisville/Flower Mound, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, The Village Church, and Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church.

Construction officially begins in January! Contact your volunteer coordinator from one of the above congregations if interested in signing up to volunteer on this home.
Service Spotlight: Ken Reedy
As you may know, today is Ken Reedy's last day with us. He has been the Construction Manager at Habitat for Humanity of Denton County since January 2021 and an active volunteer since 2017 - we are hopeful that at some point he may be able to volunteer again. We have been fortunate to have his skills, generosity, and servant heart as part of our team for so long. In order to honor his service, we hope you will join us at his farewell reception this evening.

Please join us for Ken Reedy's Farewell Reception tonight, December 30, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM at the Jerry Morgan Conference Room at the ReStore (1805 Cornell Lane, Denton, TX 76201).
Thanking Ruth's Room
We wanted to show our appreciation for all the staff and volunteers at Ruth's Room, so we hand delivered a basket of holiday treats last week right before Christmas. Did you know that Ruth's Room has raised over $2.2 million for Habitat for Humanity of Denton County over the last 21 years?

Ruth's Room is also a sponsor of our 2021 Interfaith Build. Bunny Hodges, founder and owner of Ruth's Room, spoke at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of this build on December 18, saying "I can't think of any reason not to support Habitat!"

Ruth's Room holds fast to their mission to support Habitat's work in building homes, communities, and hope in Denton County, and we are so grateful. They also recently renovated their space, and it looks incredible. Visit Ruth's Room today to see for yourself!
Staff End-of-Year Celebration
On Thursday, December 16, our team celebrated the end of the year with a staff breakfast at Cafe Brazil. We have a great team of administrative and ReStore staff, and this celebration was the perfect way to end a very full year.

Our amazing Board of Directors came together to treat each staff member with beautiful end-of-the-year Christmas gifts, including generous Kroger gift cards. We are all grateful for the opportunity to work together every day to build homes, communities, and hope in our community!

More than 18 million U.S. households - 1 in 6 - spend more than half their income on housing. Low-income families often must choose between needed medical care or food when housing costs are this high. With the added pressures of inflation and the new COVID-19 variants, there are many who fear losing jobs again No family should have to make these hard choices, especially at this time of the year.

Thanks to your support this year, we worked alongside two wonderful families who will now have a permanent, affordable, and safe place to call home. Habitat families are secure for years to come because we offer them a set, zero-interest mortgage, ensuring they spend far less than half their income on housing.

As 2021 comes to a close, we need you. Donate now to give more families a decent place to call home.
