LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

The Missouri General Assembly is now in full swing. Committees have begun holding hearings for proposed legislation. The House General Laws Committee held a very long, contentious hearing Tuesday. The room was packed for bills related to student participation in sports organized by sex and gender transition procedures.

Entertainment Industry Legislation

Several bills have been filed in both the House and Senate related to the entertainment industry. Each of our local legislators have filed bills to help attract motion media projects, live entertainment tours and associated rehearsals, as well as other forms of media production to the state.

Representative Seitz – HB 169, MO Entertainment Industry Investment Act and MO Entertainment Industry Postproduction Investment Act.

Representative Smith – HB 239, Show MO Film and Digital Media Act

Representative Hudson – HB 133, Entertainment Job Industry Act

Multiple legislators have filed bills on this topic. Others likely to see traction include:

Senator Hoskins (Dist. 21, Warrensburg) – SB 170, Entertainment Industry Jobs Act

Senator Beck (Dist. 1, St. Louis) – SB 57, Entertainment Industry Jobs Act and SB 58, Show MO Act

Representative Gregory (Dist. 51, Marshall) – HB 675, Show MO Act
