Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,
Happy New Year!

We hope that you are enjoying the break and have been fortunate to avoid the challenges of the rise in COVID cases. We have had word from a number of members of our Rondout community that they have been impacted by the rise in COVID cases and have either been infected with COVID or have been close contacts during the recent break. As a result, we have worked with our testing partners at Passport Health and Shield to host a special on-site testing session on Friday January 7th from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. here at Rondout for our students and staff who are on the testing roster. This mitigation effort will provide us with information prior to the students return to school on January 10th.

Please note that while CDC identified new guidelines for the public regarding COVID protocols, schools will until further notice be bound by the existing IDPH protocols for response to COVID cases previously identified by IDPH for schools until further guidance is received. More information will be sent to our parents to clarify the details of those requirements.

We were also approached by Illinois Emergency Management to provide space for a vaccination clinic for children and adults ages 5 and up. More information about this IEMA event which will be held at Rondout on January 15th ( dose 1) and February 5 ( dose 2) is available in this flyer.

Our goal is to provide the safest in-person experience that we can for all our students and faculty. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and we prepare for the return to school. In-person learning will continue to be our goal for those who are not COVID positive. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Email is the best way to reach me during this final week of winter break.

Together we will continue to successfully provide a safe and enriching learning experience for all of our students. All the best to you and yours in 2022!

Be safe... Take care,
Until next time,
Dr. Jenny Wojcik

Season’s Greetings Staff and Families,

What a joyful and exciting last week before break that we had here at Rondout.  Students and staff were sparkling today as we participated in our school wide Sparkle Day! With everything from sing-alongs, to igloo building, movies to band concerts, there have been wonderful opportunities for students to share some kindness, joy and creativity around the building. Our virtual band concert was huge success. A big thank you to Ms. Ausmann on a successful concert and a vibrant band program.

A few reminders as we look to the new year. Please be sure to alert the office to any student absences. In addition, we would greatly appreciate notice of any dismissal changes by 1:00 pm each day. The end of the day is a busy time and advance notice of any transportation changes allows for a smooth dismissal process. When we return from break, winter will still be upon us, so hats, coats, and gloves will be necessary for recess.

I hope that as you enjoy the winter break, your families are safe and enjoy this time together. Thank you all for your partnership and support of the Rondout Community.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth Davis
Back to School Shield Testing Event
Friday 1/7/2022
8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
We have made special arrangements to provide return to school testing for staff and students who are in the testing roster. The Shield test will be administered by our partners at Passport Health as a preventative measure in order to have test results prior to students return to school after break on Monday January 10th. Staff and students who are on the roster may choose to come in during those hours to be tested. We encourage our students to come in for this quick experience. Parents are asked to wait for their child while they are being tested. If your child is currently not on the testing roster and you would like your student to be added to the roster to take advantage of this free service, please notify us no later than 1/5/2022 and return the Voluntary Shield Testing Rostering Permission Form to us. While advance notification is not required, it would be helpful to know who will be participating on January 7th. Please email the [email protected] to let us know.

We would like to thank Passport Health and the Shield organization for making this special testing opportunity possible. Regular weekly testing will resume on Tuesday January 11th.
Vaccination Clinic at Rondout
1/15/2022 & 2/5/2022
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Illinois Emergency Management will be hosting a vaccination clinic here at Rondout on Saturday, January 15th for dose 1 and Saturday, February 5th for dose 2. It will be open to our families and the public. Vaccines for children 5 and up as well as adults will be available. We anticipate that boosters will also be available for those who wish to get a booster on either day and are awaiting confirmation. The registration form for the vaccination event is attached and should be brought to the event. Until on-line registration is available we ask that our Rondout families, notify us if they plan to participate. This event will be open to the public so feel free to pass along the information to friends and neighbors.
