APART Screening Recap

Photos by Tim Metzger

Thank you to the over 150 individuals who packed out the APART screening and film Q+A at Cedar Lee Theatre last weekend! The Q+A featured the film director, film participants, and change-makers from LMM and The Edna House, two local organizations serving the needs of formerly incarcerated women. Special thank you to the National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM) Foundation, whose grant made this event possible.

Set right here in Cleveland, the APART documentary follows three unforgettable mothers—Tomika, Lydia, and Amanda— as they return home from prison and rebuild their lives after being separated from their children for years. Their stories overlap in LMM's Chopping for Change program, run by Malika Kidd, an advocate formerly incarcerated in the same prison. Filmed over 3 ½ years, APART traces their steps as they reconstruct lives derailed by drugs and prison.

MLK Day Staff Lunch & Learn

LMM Community Engagement Coordinator Gloria Craig recently facilitated a staff Lunch & Learn in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Lunch & Learn focused on protesting and highlighted significant riots, marches and movements throughout US history, including local movements that happened in Northeast Ohio.

We are grateful to be able to reflect on our history and celebrate the legacy of Dr. King with staff!
