Description:
Play therapy has been around since the 1920s with Anna Freud and Melanie Kline. Yet, for many clinicians working with young children, play therapy is a mystery. Play therapy is more than child's play. Attend this FREE introductory workshop and get a glimpse of what goes on in play therapy with a child and a trained play therapist. During this session, you learn what play therapy is, and how it works to bring about healing. After many years of learning and practicing this skill, I have seen first-hand children "come out of the darkness and step into the light."
It is my belief that every child therapist should be trained in child-centered play therapy as it is the cornerstone of play therapy. Because I strongly believe in the therapeutic powers of play I offer you this FREE training as a gift!

Objectives:
  • Define play therapy based on the definition provided by the Association of Play Therapy
  • Describe the tenants of child-centered play therapy
  • Differentiate between directive and non-directive play therapy

CHILD-CENTERED PLAY THERAPY TRAINING TESTIMONIAL

Hi Sonia, I want to thank you again for such an amazing and useful workshop! It has truly transformed how I interact with the kids I work with. When I walked into the center this morning, one of the little girls grabbed my hand and took me over to see her picture on the wall…rather than my usual “how beautiful” we had a very nice chat about how hard she worked on it, the way she used the whole page and such an intricate design…she was very proud of herself (and I accurately reflected that too!) Later I had numerous opportunities to practice letting kids do what they can really do, always the way they can’t...you should have seen my lunchbunch kids beaming with pride when they opened their own milk cartons, butter containers, and pudding cups! It was awesome! They were running around showing other kids And then staff what they had done…and never mind about the play dough…it just was on and on…that workshop was amazing!!! I have been an LPC for 15 years and I feel like I’m just starting out. You will see me again! I wish I could get the time off for the boot camp but maybe next YEAR.

Take care and God bless!!! Amy Rozett
