Because...Some of the Biggest Victims of Domestic Violence are the Smallest
Looking back, RHOA has grown over the years building its capacity by building strong board leadership and developing programs that have helped so many children that are victimized by domestic violence. This has allowed us to reach over 225 children in the six-county region.
Looking forward, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit status will allow RHOA to continue to build sustainability for the organization. This transition will open up doors to offer our programs in schools and partner agencies, which allow the expansion of our services focused on helping children overcome the trauma of exposure to domestic violence.

In Her Own Words – Ann Gerras
The Nativity School of Harrisburg provides a wonderful opportunity for Randi’s House of Angels to implement its curriculum and philosophy in an effort to break the cycle of domestic violence in an at-risk population. Anyone who spends thirty minutes at the Nativity School talking with the students quickly appreciates the challenging environments to which these kids are routinely exposed. It’s not just violence, but poverty, uncertainty, and constant stress.
Over the past eighteen months, I have facilitated Randi’s Kidz Club to male students, 5th through 8th grades at Nativity School. The group creates a safe, supportive environment for children to learn that they are not alone in their experiences and that they matter. In delivering this curriculum, I am routinely surprised by the range of emotions that I feel on a minute-by-minute basis. From pure laughter and happiness, to a sense of pride over how willing the students are to actively participate and learn about conflict resolution, types of communication, labeling feelings, in addition to appreciating how violence impacts their young minds and bodies.
The student’s insightful answers astonish me at times and their positive problem-solving ideas may lead to laughter, but they are always eager to find out what we are going to be discussing, how the lesson works in their everyday life, and what type of mess we can create with arts and crafts as we learn the lesson with our hands, along with our hearts. Bringing RHOA to the Nativity School is impactful on not just the students, but on me personally.

2022 PA CONFERENCE ON JUVENILE JUSTICE
Nancy participated in this unique workshop along with another survivor, each detailing their experiences in the criminal justice system and the impact victimization had on their life.
The discussion included their own personal stories of losing their loved ones, describing how they were treated throughout the court process, and highlighting their treatment by professionals in the criminal justice system.
For more than forty years, the PA Conference on Juvenile Justice has been recognized as one of the finest of its kind nationally, providing the most current and relevant information facing juvenile justice. The conference was well-attended by judges, hearing officers, juvenile probation officers, public defenders, prosecutors, and providers.
