Community Cat Newsletter
Our vision is to have a community where no kittens are born wild on the street, no cat capable of living in a home is lacking one, and no feral cats are wanting for food, water, and appropriate care and concern.
December 2021| Issue 12
Our Newsletter is sponsored by the fantastic team at Groomer Seafood. Born in the Alamo city, Groomer Seafood has sold their catch to local and statewide restaurants since the 1980's.

HAPPY MEW YEAR!
The SAFCC Family would like to encourage everyone to keep the safety of their cats and dogs in mind tonight. Fireworks can frighten them and compromise their safety if left alone at home. Please keep this in mind if you have any plans outside of your homes tonight.
Start The New Year Right With Your Cat!
Get ready to have a cat "pawty" on January 2nd, 2022! Celebrate Mew Years Day with your feline friends and start the year right by making them feel extra special.

We love that 2022 is starting off with a Sunday Funday to celebrate cats. See how you can celebrate here!

THE SAFCC CHRISTMAS ANGEL

On Monday, December 6th, a Christmas angel came through the doors of the San Antonio Humane Society and anonymously paid for 9 feral surgeries!

We wanted to acknowledge this special gift that was given to trappers on this day and give a big THANK YOU! To our anonymous angel, we hope your holiday blessings were doubled and that you have a prosperous new year!
DIY WINTER SHELTERS TO HELP COMMUNITY CATS
Cold weather is approaching us in January and February. Feral cats are going to be exploring various places for a warm shelter, so we would like to share Cathy Rosenthal's insightful article, featuring our President, Sherry Derdak, on what the community can do to help feral cats this winter.
The full article explains step by step how to build a feral cat shelter, pictured to the right, in just a few steps.

We want to stress the importance of building these shelters to prevent feral cats from seeking shelter in hazardous places like our car engines.

We hope to see some cat shelters for wandering feral cats this winter!
Become A Part of the Helpline Family!
We are entering 2022 still in need of volunteers to join our Helpline family!

If the work we do is important to you and you would like to help community cats, we can use your help as a Helpline Volunteer!

Our SAFCC Helpline responds to calls from people asking for help and provides information and resources. This opportunity is crucial to the success of our organization and we will train anyone interested.

We encourage those who would like to help us out to apply here.
Petco Volunteers Needed
We are in need of volunteers for the PetCo store located on DeZavala, Fiesta Trails. These volunteers help keep our SAFCC cats entertained through play time and ensure that all their litter boxes and cubicles are kept clean.

Anyone who would like to volunteer for this may fill out a volunteer form here.
Home For The Holidays: Cayden
Things just keep getting better and better for Cayden, formerly known as Giles, who was 1 of the 42 cats the SAFCC team helped rescue from a hoarding situation back in September 2021.

Cayden was found underweight and needing medical attention right away. When his foster mom took him in, she was taking care of a severely emaciated boy with 6 inches of dead skin on his back. Cayden was one of the more severe medical cases.

After a fully recovered back and a healthy weight gain, Cayden won the heart of his new mom, Carrie, who instantly fell in love with him despite his crazy behavior that day!

Cayden got to celebrate Christmas with his new family and sibling, Eris, who was also adopted by the same foster mom before the holidays.

We find lots of cats who deserve a second chance. Please consider donating to our cat crisis fund so we can continue helping our feline friends!

Find Us On TikTok!
Sammi told us that 84% of you said SAFCC should create a TikTok account!
It's true! SAFCC is on TikTok now!

We hope that viewers will be able to fall in love with the cats that SAFCC has taken care of and are available for adoption!

We would love to share with you more videos of our cats who have successfully made it to their furrever families and those who we still need to help. We decided that our first TikTok post would be of Cayden playing with his favorite chicken toy in his new home.

If you have adopted a cat through us and want to share a video on how they are doing, please email Sara at socialmedia@sanantonioferalcats.org

Cat of the Month: Silver
Silver really needs a loving home and we hope 2022 will be his year!

Silver was TNRed by a kind foster. The foster noticed Silver was very friendly and assumed he had a home already. She released him and didn't see him again for a year. Silver has reappeared and was found wearing a harness and terrified of being outside. With new space in her home, the foster took Silver in and began searching for his owner. No owner was ever found and no one seemed to be looking for him.

Silver and his sweet personality would like a child-free home and really enjoys being the only cat. He hopes his perfect match will come along someday so he can live the rest of his life in happiness with lots of snuggles and treats!

If you are interested in adopting Silver, please email us at: adoptions@sanantonioferalcats.org
