Members of the Marine Corp will be picking up and transporting the toys from the Bar Center to the distribution location on Tuesday, December 13. YOUNG LAWYER BOARD VACANCIES
Are you interested in joining the Young Lawyer Executive Board? Districts 4, 12, 15, and 16 have vacancies and are seeking a young lawyer representative in the following areas:
District 4 – (Clay, Jackson, Mason, Putnam, & Roane)
District 12 – (Braxton, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph, Upshur, & Webster)
District 15 – (Barbour, Preston, Taylor, & Tucker)
District 16 - (Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, & Morgan)
To be eligible to apply for the vacancy, you must be a member in good standing with the West Virginia State Bar who has either been admitted to practice for ten years or less prior to the State Bar’s annual meeting or be 35 years of age or younger.

LEGISLATIVE CLAIMS COMMISSION
POSTING FOR OPEN COMMISSIONER POSITION – WITH WV STATE BAR
The West Virginia State Bar is seeking candidates for the position of Commissioner of the Legislative Claims Commission. The State Bar Board of Governors will nominate three (3) lawyers and will submit these names to the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate for appointment to the Claims Commission. The term is for six (6) years. A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a licensed attorney is required. A full description of qualifications can be found in W.Va. Code Section 14-2-4 and 14-2-10, and compensation is provided for in W. Va. Code Section 14-2-8. This position involves hearing and deciding claims filed against state agencies and the Crime Victims Compensation Fund. The main offices of the Claims Commission are at the State Capitol with travel to other parts of the state for hearings. Some administrative law, mediation, or other judicial experience would be beneficial.

2th Judicial Circuit Court Vacancy
The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission is currently receiving applications to fill the judicial vacancy created by the resignation of Judge David Hammel in the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court serving Marshall, Tyler, and Westzel Counties. Candidates must submit their completed applications and letters of recommendation or comment no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2023. CLE Rule Spotlight
Publication Credit
Attorneys can earn Publication CLE credit per Administrative Rule 6.05(e) for such works as publishing an article in the law review of an ABA-accredited school or the State Bar magazine; authorship of a legal book; contributions to a legal society’s annual collection or publication of an article in a state bar journal or newsletters for specialists. Requests are submitted via the Publication Credit option on the online member portal. The required fields of information regarding the publication must be submitted (outlined in Rule 6.09(l)) along with a copy of the published work. If the publication is lengthy or unavailable in digital format it can be mailed to the State Bar. The CLE Commission determines the number of publication credits to be allocated and the year of publication determines the applicable reporting period. Please note that a published work must have a distribution to at least 300 attorneys to qualify for publication credit and it must be an original work. A maximum of 12 publication credits per 2-year reporting period may be obtained.
