A New Lens on the Early American Deaf History

Separate fact from fiction! Get an updated view of the early history of Deaf people and Deaf culture in America. In this fun and interactive class, Kathleen L Brockway (see bio below) will share new research findings that shed light on important Deaf figures, the development of American sign language, and the evolution of deaf culture in the U.S.

About the Presenter
Kathleen L. Brockway hails from the Washington, DC area. She has published two books: "Baltimore's Deaf Heritage" and "Detroit's Deaf Heritage." In May of 2022, she will graduate fro Goucher College in Baltimore with a degree in Cultural Sustainability and expertise in documenting Deaf culture. In her free time, she travels to explore deaf history sites. She also writes short stories, shared on Instagram and Facebook.
