Summer is approaching quickly! Registration for summer activities continues online for Greenwich residents only. Some sections are already full. See a preview of our programs in our Summer Brochure. More details on summer programs is available below and on our website. For parents who need financial assistance for their children to participate in programs, please read our scholarship information below and on our website.

Don't miss the details provided on programming for youth with special needs. See the section entitled Adaptive Sports Greenwich! Our 2022 Summer Concert Series is scheduled, as well as the annual Fireworks Shows. The kick-off concert will be the Bob Button Band at Binney Park on Wednesday, June 29 at 7 p.m. See the BWGCC section below for information on outdoor movies. Except for Town holidays, the Parks and Recreation Office at Town Hall is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We encourage you to make an appointment between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Most business can be done online. Office staff are available by email; feel free to contact us.

NEW Higher Rates for Swim Instructor Job Opportunities
The top end of the pay rates for Head Swim Instructor and Swim Instructor have recently been raised to entice some additional applicants.

Independence Day Fireworks
Once again, the Town will present displays at Binney Park and Greenwich Point Park. Both shows are scheduled for Saturday, July 2. The Binney Park Show will start at approximately 9:10 p.m.; the Greenwich Point Show will begin at approximately 9:35 p.m. For more information, visit our website. Greenwich Road Runners
5K Race & 1 Mile Fun Run Benefits Parks and Recreation Foundation
The Greenwich Road Runners club is hosting a race and fun run in Greenwich Point Park on Friday, June 17. Proceeds from this family friendly event will benefit the Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation. Parks and Recreation is grateful for the support of both agencies which benefit our department and, in turn, the Greenwich community. Register here.
Greenwich Recreation has options for your day camp needs. Kamp Kairphree is FULL.

Adventurers is a co-ed program for ages 8-15 that runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Sections for ages 8-12 are FULL. Limited openings remain for ages 13-15. Organized by age and interest, the program includes theme weeks with onsite activities, one special field trip per week, and local beach days at Greenwich Point and Island Beach. The camp season is split into two sessions totaling seven weeks from June 28 - August 12. The onsite location is Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center. Bus transportation is provided for trips and to the beach.

Music & Art Camp is for children who have completed 3rd grade through 8th grade (June 2022). The camp will operate at Eastern Middle School Monday to Friday from June 27 - July 29. Music sections are held in the mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Except for the Beginner Band section, all music students must have experience in note reading and sound production. Junior Band and Junior Strings must have 1 to 3 years of study; Senior Band and Strings must have 4 or more years of study. Art Camp has sections in the morning or afternoon from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Afternoon art is only for those enrolled in morning music. There is also a morning Young Artist program for those who have completed K through 3rd grade.
Withdrawal Policy for
 Day Camps

Much time and effort goes into planning our summer day camps. Knowing an accurate headcount for our programs in advance is crucial for effective planning. Therefore, the policy for withdrawal from Kamp Kairphree, Music & Art Camp, or Adventurers is as follows:

  • Written withdrawal request prior to June 1 of each year will be provided a full credit (100%) for the fee paid, less a $15 administrative fee.
  • Written withdrawal request June 1 or after, but prior to the first day of the camp section, will be provided only half credit (50%) for the fee paid and less a $15 administrative fee.
  • Written withdrawal request June 1 or after, and after the camp section has begun, will be provided half credit (50%) for the fee paid, also pro-rated based on the remaining time in the section, and less a $15 administrative fee.

Any credit for withdrawal from day camp will be placed in the household account any may be used by anyone in the immediate household. The credit may be used towards Recreation activities or facility reservation within the Recreation Division and will be good for one year from date of issue. If you have any questions concerning this policy, please contact the Recreation Division administration prior to registering for day camp.
Bendheim Western Civic Center

Outdoor movies are returning to BWGCC. The first movie will be Sing 2 to be held Monday, July 18. The next movie will be Soul to be held Monday, August 1.

The BWGCC is offering indoor drop-in pickleball. The drop-in days are grouped by skill level. Please make sure you attend a day appropriate for your skills. For dates, times, and skill levels for June through August, click here.

Boomslang Basketball Club is offering a summer clinic for girls in grades 2-5 at BWGCC. The clinic will be Mondays from July 11-August 1 from 4-5 p.m. Jumpin' Jams is offering children's music classes at BWGCC.

Single Entry Ticket Sales

The Eastern Greenwich Civic Center is now closed to the public for demolition and construction. The Greenwich Department of Public Works Building, Construction, and Maintenance Division is responsible for overseeing the construction of the new Eastern Greenwich Civic Center.

With the closure of the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, single entry tickets will be sold at the Cos Cob Dockmaster Office, 94 Strickland Road, Cos Cob, CT. Wednesday and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. They will also be sold online. For more information about passes and sales, please visit: our website here.
The Greenwich Skatepark located at the foot of Arch Street is open for the season. For hours and fees, click here. Download the park's rules and regulations. As a reminder, youth scholarships are available for clinics, ramp camp, and monthly admissions. Hold your child's next birthday party at the skatepark!
Registration continues for Summer Skateboard Clinics and Ramp Camp.
Dorothy Hamill Indoor Turf

The ice has melted and the turf is down. Dorothy Hamill Rink is offering indoor turf rentals through mid-August. It is a great place to hold indoor sports, camps, or birthday parties. For more information, click here.

Adaptive Sports Greenwich !
In cooperation with some fabulous parents in Town, we are pleased to announce a new community program for children and youth with special needs. Tennis, soccer, and open gym time are some of the activities offered. Download the May and June informational flyer here. Volunteers are also needed and will be provided with credit for community service hours. Contact the parents at
Summer Baseball provides 3 playing divisions : ages 6 & 7, ages 8 & 9, and ages 10 - 12. The divisions vary in skill level with instructional coach-pitch for the beginners (6 & 7); combined player and coach pitching as well as instruction during game play (8 & 9). The Mustang Division for Ages 8-9 is full. Ages 10 - 12 is player pitch with formal playing structure and rules. Emphasis will be on skill advancement in baseball.
Platform Tennis, Pickleball & Tennis
As a result of the construction project for the new building, the entrance gate for the tennis courts at Eastern Greenwich Civic Center is being changed. The new entrance gate will be located on the north end of the courts, adjacent to the field.

There is still room available for membership in the 2022 Spring/Summer Paddle Tennis season. Play is held on the platform courts at Loughlin Avenue Park. The season runs from May 7 through July 29.

Adults with experience can register for advanced play in our Summer Outdoor Pickleball program at Loughlin Avenue tennis/pickleball courts. All of the Intermediate sections are FULL.
Youth and Adult Tennis Clinic Instruction is available beginning in early June through early August for ages 4 and up. Instruction is provided at a variety of levels and focuses on all the fundamentals and rules of play in tennis. All classes will be held at Bruce Park Tennis courts. Fees are for one-week sessions from Monday - Thursday with a rain date of Friday. Register for as many weeks as you like. Some Youth and Adult sections are already FULL.

The tennis/pickleball court reservation system is open as of May 1. To reserve a court, click here. Tennis passes are required for all "in season" play on Town tennis courts, which includes playing pickleball on tennis or pickleball courts. The Tennis season runs May to November. Courts are only available to tennis pass holders. Pickleball lines are painted on Loughlin Avenue, Western Middle School, and one court at Byram Park at which portable pickleball nets are required. Youth Scholarships
If you need financial assistance for your child to participate in a Recreation activity, we can help. Greenwich Parks and Recreation has established a youth scholarship program which provides financial assistance to qualifying residents. Greenwich Farmers' Market Reopens
The Greenwich Farmers' Market, located at the Horseneck Commuter Lot on the corner of Arch Street reopened for the 2022 season on May 14. The market will be held each Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. through November 19. Visit their website for more information and to pre-order from some farmers.
Withdrawal Policy for Recreation Activities
other than Day Camps

Credit requests for recreation program registration will be considered if received in writing prior to the start of the program. There is a $15 administrative fee per section for credits. The general policy of the Recreation Division is that we do not process refunds unless a program has been cancelled. Please read all registration information carefully and contact us prior to registering if you have any questions. Should someone withdraw from a program after it has begun, the credit will be pro-rated based on the time remaining in the program when the withdrawal is requested.
