Hello from the library! On May 25th, 2023, PTA will be hosting their annual Ice Cream Social and Art Walk. In collaboration with that event, the library will be having our Used Book Sale, with proceeds to benefit the Rockwell Library.

How it works: Families can donate gently used paperback and hard cover books to sell at the fair (2 paper bags per family)

Requirements for donations- hardcover and paperback books in good condition will be accepted. Please no torn covers/pages or water damaged or drawn in books. Adult and children’s books will be accepted (school appropriate).

Donations need to be brought to the office and dropped off by Friday, May 19th.

At the sale: come in during the Ice Cream social (NO food in the library please) and purchase these used books. Paperbacks will be priced at .50 cents and Hardcover books for $1.00.

CASH only- small bills please.

Rockwell Movie Night

When: May 11th, 2023
Where: Rockwell Gym
Doors open at 5:30PM
Movie starts at 6:00PM
Cost: Movie Tickets are $1 each

Bring a comfy blanket/pillow and watch The Mitchell's vs. The Machines in the Rockwell Gym.

Concession stand will be open. Bring cash! All items $1 or $2
Rockwell T-Shirt Spirit Wear Sale 
Free school distribution if you order now until May 29! 
Final call to order spiritwear this school year! We have some new tie-dye t-shirts for you to wear all summer long while showing off your Beagle Pride. The sale will run from May 1-29 and will be distributed to your child’s classroom. Please allow 14+ days from the end of the campaign for delivery. I will contact you via email to obtain your child's name and teacher. A portion of every sale goes towards Rockwell PTA fundraising. Stay tuned next Monday, May 8th for a fun spirit wear design contest!

Teacher Appreciation Week
May 1-5 is Teacher Appreciation Week!

Let's show our Rockwell teachers and staff how much we appreciate their tremendous work and dedication. Your PTA has been hard at work planning a full week of activities to celebrate our Rockwell teachers. See the calendar of events below. 

Monday, May 1: "Share the love!"
Each teacher and staff member will be given a ribbon corsage to wear on Monday morning. Throughout the week, students will write notes of appreciation for their teachers, specialists, office staff, and support teachers on the ribbons as they see them. If students want to bring a card for their teachers (as has been done in the past), they are more than welcome to!

Tuesday, May 2: "Kids give flowers"
Room parents will provide a vase and a bouquet of flowers divided so each student can give one flower to their teachers at the start of the day. In addition, teachers will be able to sign up for a chair massage to enjoy during their break time.

Wednesday, May 3: "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"
PTA will be providing a picnic-themed lunch for our teachers and staff. We will fire up the grill with all of our summertime favorites, while kids can bring artwork, a toy, or dress in the theme to celebrate our teachers.

Thursday, May 4: "Classroom supplies day"
Room parents will provide each class with a sign-up list of requested supplies from your child’s teacher, so parents can purchase and send in with their child on Thursday.

Friday, May 5: "Treat your teacher to coffee"
PTA will provide a coffee cart to treat our teachers and staff. Room parents may arrange a class gift.

All Week: "Virtual Recipes Sharing”
What is your go to Friday night dinner? Our teachers and staff are busy and they need new ideas! Please type up your favorite family recipe, (include your child’s name on it if you like), email it to TAW@NormanRockwellPTA.org, and we will post them for everyone to try!


Parking Spot Fundraiser - Thank you!

Thank you so much to all class families that helped us raise additional funds for teacher appreciation week. We had several classes that contributed very generously to this fundraiser and we raised over $2200. Congrats to our top 3 classes Ms. Thompson, Ms. Gibson and Ms. Ianni who won an extra primo parking spot by the pickup area for the week! VIP mentions are Ms. Rapp, Ms. J and Ms. Whitestone.

We will be providing a lovely lunch for our teachers and extra treats and surprises throughout the week. Any remaining funds raised will be used to help purchase some wish list items for our support staff as well. (library, office, music, PE, SpEd, ELL, etc.)

Nominate Someone for the '23-'24 Rockwell PTA Board! 

If you or someone you know has a passion for students and the programs that help them succeed, please consider submitting a nomination for a role on Rockwell’s PTA Board. Our Rockwell PTA’s nominating committee is still looking to fill positions before our next General Membership Meeting on June 1st at 7:00 pm (note the new date).  

All board and chair positions are open, but we have a specific request for individuals interested in our Co-Treasurer, VP of Communications, VP of Events, VP of Membership, Executive VP, and Chairperson roles for our school events. Please ask us questions about any position. You may be surprised at how flexible and fun being on the Board can be even with a busy schedule! No experience required! If you would like to be part of this team or know someone who would be great, please email our nominating committee. All nominations including self-nominations for any position are welcomed. May Recess Volunteers Needed

A new month means a new recess wrangler sign up! This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity; you may sign up for as many shifts as you wish!

We need 6-8 volunteers helping every day at morning recess and lunch recess shifts from 12:15PM - 1:20PM. You can sign up for an entire shift or part of a shift.

We also need lunchroom helpers every day from 11:55AM - 1:00PM.

New and Experienced Recess Wranglers: Your help during recess is greatly appreciated by the staff. Sign up for a March recess time here.
