Spotlight Assembly - January 20, 2023

The eighth grade class graced the stage on Friday with a Spotlight Assembly featuring instruments that they designed and built in Design & Engineering class with Mr. Pagano and Coco. What a wonderful display of hands-on learning, creativity, individual thought, collaboration, and courage!

Around Campus

Lower School

(kindergarten - fifth grade)

Students in the after-school enrichment class, Coyotes Outside, have been enjoying the flowing creeks and impressive low tides during their weekly excursions off campus with Mr. Hartnett, Ms. London, and Ms. Wendy. They are appreciating the outdoors, learning from Mother Nature, and getting their hands and feet dirty.

Upper School

(sixth - eighth grade)

A New Upper School Elective: Bakeries and Bites

A new trimester of E-Block electives has begun. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders are spread out among eight different chosen offerings. The new Bakeries and Bites elective will explore the inner-workings of local establishments. Last Thursday they returned to campus with full tummies and a new appreciation for croissant flavors and aesthetics after sampling from multiple bakeries.

This course is led by Ms. Hughes and Ms. Tannous who received a grant from Crane over the summer to attend the Culinary Institute of America. They pondered, "How could we take the things we learned in our culinary classes and bring them back to our Crane classrooms?" Bakeries and Bites is one example of how they have incorporated their learning into curriculum.

Crane Values in Action

Our individual experiences wouldn’t be possible without the collective, and an inclusive culture is a shared responsibility. Together, we ensure that every voice is heard, and that students and adults not only feel included, but that they express a strong sense of belonging as part of their experience in this community.

The Wild Explorers is a student-inspired club run by members of the third grade class. The club president makes announcements in Assembly to inform the audience of campus trash pickups. The entire Crane community is encouraged to spend recess beautifying the grounds. The Wild Explorers has been known to award prizes to the student who picks up the most trash!
