Share the Plate for Feb: MLK Institute for Nonviolence
This month we share half our non-pledge collection with the Westchester Martin Luther King, Jr. Institute for Nonviolence, which has promoted nonviolent activism for social justice since 1987. Their mission is to advance racial equity for all our communities by: educating and empowering youth and adults; supporting inclusiveness, courage, and peace; and collaborating to advocate for justice, equity, and shared power for all. Make checks to CUUC with the memo “Share the Plate - MLK” and add to the plate or mail to the office. Or click here to pay online, and select “Share the Plate.” You may also select “Other” and type “MLK” in the note if you'd like your full donation to benefit the institute.

Last week saw THREE events take place for folks who won some of our Auction's "bid-and-bump" offerings. A splendid time was had by all participants. Thanks to: Stuart Levine of LeVino Wine Merchants for the wine tasting, and Tom Heintzelman and Joan Traber for refreshments; Terri Kung for the dumpling-making class; and Joni Weiner Ehrlich and Nicole Silton Klemens for the Mahjong lesson. Be a CUUC Delegate to General Assembly
2023 UUA General Assembly, Wed Jun 21 - Sun Jun 25, In Person in Pittsburgh, PA, and Online
Submit Requests to be a CUUC Voting Delegate by Mon Feb 20
The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) 2023 General Assembly (GA) will be held in Pittsburgh — and virtually — from Wed Jun 21 through Sun Jun 25. Over the four days, congregation delegates participate in worship, lectures, small group interactions, and the Annual Meeting of the Association. CUUC is eligible to have 4 voting delegates to represent our congregation at GA.
A key issue at the 2023 GA will be voting on proposed changes to UUA Bylaws Article II (Principles and Purposes). A majority vote is required in Year One of this ratification process; a two-thirds majority vote is required in Year Two (2024). Click here to see the Article II Study Report. Learn more in this message from UUA president Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray. At CUUC, we will be hosting a congregation forum on Sun Mar 12 to discuss the report together.

The Power of Participation
Step up and strengthen your participation at CUUC! As member Anthony Russell shared at the Jan 22 service, participating is personally rewarding and makes one feel more connected (see him in our Sun Jan 22 worship video, at about 6:40 in). Rev. Meredith’s sermon echoed the importance of relationships as a way to find meaning and live happier and healthier lives. CUUC has a variety of opportunities — short- and long-term — for connecting with fellow congregants while being of service in the world. So when we reach out and invite you to join in, please say yes! Contact Mary Cavallero ( marycava4@gmail.com) to start a discussion. Click here to read the full message from our Nominating and Leadership Development Committee.
