Principal's Points
Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,

Thank you for making the extra effort to bring your children to school on time this week. Students in grades 2-8 have been doing their best on the Terra Nova test showing us all they have learned this year. Testing will continue through Tuesday of next week and then we will schedule make-ups after that.

Please be sure to watch your email on Friday for information on how to access your child's report card for Trimester 2. It is important to review your child's progress with him/her, celebrating successes and making plans for areas they can improve.

Many of you are already making plans for the summer and have been asking about the start date for school next year. We have included that information below, as well as long holidays, so you can begin to make your plans.

Please join us for Mass next week as we celebrate Ash Wednesday. Students will receive their Rice Bowls on Tuesday next week and you can read more about the program here. Teachers will be doing activities throughout Lent to help the students understand the importance of helping others. Students should be putting money from their allowance or money their earn doing chores into the rice bowls. Thank you for encouraging them to live our faith.

Peace,

Linda Umoh

MUSTANG SPORTS
GIRLS JV BASKETBALL:  The girl's JV basketball team played well but lost to local rival Nativity, 18-17. The Mustangs were led in scoring by Karly L 6 points, Lillian M 5 points, Anelisse S 4 points, and Angeliamarie D 2 points. They lost to Christ the King, 9-1. The Mustang point was scored on a free throw by Megan A. The girls are back on the court today for their last game of the season when they play St Lawrence at St Lawrence at 5:00.

BOYS FLAG FOOTBALL:  The boy's flag football team beat Villa Madonna, 12-7. The Mustangs scored on a touchdown run by Dylan B and Johnnie B had a touchdown catch from Quarterback Alex V. John S had an interception for the defense. The Mustangs lost to Mother Teresa, 32-0. The boys are back on the field today for their last regular-season game against St Lawrence at St Lawrence at 4:00. The playoffs start Tuesday with the Mustang's quarterfinal opponent and field site still to be determined.

Coach Green is looking for volunteer coaches for the girl's track and the boy's JV basketball teams. Service hours will be earned. The girl's track and boy's basketball seasons last from the second week of March through the first week of May. Any parent interested in volunteer coaching should contact Coach Green ASAP. ggreen@sscsfl.org

Field Day is Thursday, April 7. Grades 5-8 will participate in the morning from 9:30-11:00 and grades K-4 will participate in the afternoon from 1:00-2:30. The students will participate in fun activities and challenges. I'm also hoping to get the obstacle course bouncy house like in years past. Coach Green is looking for parent volunteers to help with supervising and running the field day activities during both sessions. If you'd like to volunteer during your child's activity time that would really help. Service hours will be credited. Please contact Coach Green if you have an interest in volunteering at St Stephen Field Day 2022.  ggreen@sscsfl.org
