More than 100 tenth-grade students from five area schools embarked on an eye-opening field trip on Tuesday April 18, where they toured local manufacturers and explored the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing (IAM) and Clinton Community College campus. Every student participated in two one-hour tours of manufacturing facilities such as Norsk Titanium, W Schonbek, Michelin, Spencer ARL, Monaghan Medical, IEC Holden, Schluter Systems, MRP Solutions, and SterRx. They were able to witness firsthand the intricate processes involved in manufacturing and learn about the cutting-edge technologies used in the production of various products across these industries.

As part of a growing commitment to investing in the local workforce, TDC grant programs support manufacturing skills development and STEM career exploration in the region. This two-pronged approach allows TDC to help maintain a capable workforce today while supporting the workforce of tomorrow. The TDC education grant supports:
-
Career exploration - Share the exciting opportunities for a career pathway in a STEM field. Partner with local higher ed, trades, etc. to create an experience for students to learn about the options available to them in STEM (especially manufacturing!)
-
Tools for Educators - Equip your classroom with the tools, curriculum, and resources you need to help empower your students to explore career pathways they might not have otherwise considered.
-
Local Opportunities - Most North Country residents aren't aware of the incredible companies offering opportunities in their own backyard! Showcase Clinton County manufacturers and the innovative careers they offer.
