Virtual School Dance
Thursday, November 18th
Back by popular demand, our next virtual school dance will be Thursday, November 18th. Everyone is welcome!
Along with fun dancing music, we will show some videos from the time capsule of Rockwell Students in 1992. Also, we will have a special DJ guest, adding to the fun! We are so grateful to our PTA for putting this fun event together for the students (and families!) and are looking forward to seeing you there!

Vision & Hearing Screening
O ur annual vision and hearing screening will be held on Thursday, December 9th, 2021. We are looking for volunteers to screen students from 8:45AM to 1:00PM. There are two time slots for your convenience. Please email Mansi at schoolservices@normanrockwellpta.org with any questions.

5th Grade Cover Contest
Interested in drawing, sketching or doodling the
Norman Rockwell Spirit?
It's a Rockwell tradition for the graduating classes to submit designs for the yearbook's front & back cover.
Enter the yearbook cover contest and your design could be selected!
Deadline: Friday, January 7th, 2022
Requirements:
- Black pen or black marker only please

Please use two 8x10 papers to draw your pictures (front/back cover images)
How to Submit:
There are two ways to submit artwork. Students can:
- Give to their teacher (please write name on back paper) or
- Scan & email yearbook@normanrockwellpta.org
- Accepted file formats include: jpg, SVG, TIFF, PNG and PDF (zip files also accepted). Files can be up to 100MB per file

Lunch Recess Volunteers Needed
We have an immediate need for parent volunteers to assist with lunch recess. Volunteers are needed to help Monday through Friday, for shifts between 11:40AM and 1:00PM. Volunteers will help coordinate specific recess activities for kiddos during lunch recess.
Specifically, volunteers will help manage a small group of kids for specific games (i.e. red light/green light game, coloring station, loom band crafts, shark/minnows sports challenges, HORSE basketball games, etc.) We'd love to have 4-6 parents helping each and every day. Even if you're not able to help the whole shift, we'd love the extra hands for even half and hour. In case you'd like to coordinate your volunteer shift to align with your child's recess, here's the recess schedule:
Kindergarten: 11:40AM - 12:00PM
1st Grade: 11:50AM - 12:30PM
2nd Grade: 12:00PM - 12:30PM
3rd Grade: 12:10PM - 12:40PM
4th Grade: 12:20PM - 12:50PM
5th Grade: 12:30PM - 1:00PM
This is an on-going volunteer opportunity, and we'd love for you to sign up for one shift, or even a dozen. To volunteer, sign-up HERE
PLEASE NOTE: You must be an approved LWSD volunteer (you can apply HERE if you're not already a registered volunteer). You also need to verify your vaccination status with the district, or Stacy Hatch in our front office (you must bring your vaccination card and ID).

Picture Retake Day

If your student missed Picture Day back in September or if you would like to retake their picture, we have scheduled a retake day on Wednesday, December 1st.

Spring Musical Chair Needed!
We are starting to ramp up to have a Covid safe musical this spring and we need your help! If has been a Rockwell tradition for years to have the 4th and 5th graders volunteer to perform a musical at the end of April, but we need to start the preparations for that now.
In the past, we have used theater companies to teach the students the musical in and after school, but we need 4th and 5th grade parents to chair (or co-chair) and organize both the production company and the student volunteers.

Math Challenge #4

Math Challenge #4 is now avaiable HERE
For this challenge, lucky prize winners will be randomly selected from qualified submissions. Please feel free to try more questions than the minimum required for your grade level in order to quality. Grab some friends and family and work on the challenges together! Once your student completes the challenge, email their paper by the due date to: mathchallenge@normanrockwellpta.org
The due date for Math Challenge #4 is Thursday, November 18th.

Math Challenge Tournament 2021
Rockwell Registration Code: 239
The Math Challenge Tournament organized by Ellipsis Academy will be held online this year on Saturday, December 11, 2021. All registered students can start the test anytime between 10AM - 5PM PST (Pacific Standard Time). Once students have started the test, they will have one hour to complete it in one sitting. This tournament is open to Grade 1 - 6 students. Students in Grade 1 will be competing at a Grade 2 level.

How to register:

You can start registering now. Registration will close on Monday, Nov 29th.
- Our school participates in the MCT School Give Back Program. 15% of the registration fees will be given back to our school's PTA, if students/parents provide our school's 3digit code during registration. Rockwell's code is 239.
- Any student may use the Rockwell code to register including, on-line students, siblings attending other schools and more.
