Happy Groundhog Day!
Groundhog Day is observed every year on February 2, having originated in the town of Punxsatawney, Pennsylvania.
The day derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day and sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den, and winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early.
Every year one groundhog is named Punxsutawney Phil. This year Punxsutawney Phil is due to emerge from his burrow tomorrow morning about 7:25am.
Will Phil see his shadow this year?

ADVISOR SPOTLIGHT
Learn more about the exceptional volunteers that give their time and expertise to travel with the Equipo Esperanza team in March.

Colleen Claflin (Team Lead)
I first joined B3 15 years ago as a high school junior, traveling with the April Riggio (now Rock-It!) team to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, and have been hooked ever since. My sisters and brother followed, each participating in 3 years of B3, and I returned to B3 as an advisor after graduating from college. This will be my 6th year as an advisor and my 2nd as team lead with the March Equipo Esperanza team Outside of B3, I work in fundraising and I’m a proud Marquette University and Boston College alumna. I love every minute of working with our students, advisors, and community partners, and cannot wait for Ecuador 2023!

Jason Corsi (Team Lead)
I was inspired to become an advisor after hearing stories from a former colleague/advisor and B3 students. More than ten years later, B3 has allowed me to work with young leaders to give back, while using my construction and Spanish skills. I work in financial services by day, but my passion is community service. Over the years I have volunteered for several different organizations. Most recently, I became an EMT and have been volunteering with a local EMS agency and mobile food pantry. I was born in Connecticut and grew up in Madison, CT and now live locally. My hobbies include: exercising, traveling, working with my hands, road tripping and checking out funky coffee shops. I am working toward a goal of running a race in all 169 towns in Connecticut. I am personally committed to making this year fun and impactful!

Drew Martin (Advisor)
An alumnus of the B3 organization, I was a part of the original Equipo Cambio team before graduating from GFA in 2014. I then went on to study chemical engineering at Villanova University where I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity during my spring breaks —
two as a participant and another as a leader. Now, I am living in Boston and working as a product manager for a tech company. In my free time I love doing
anything outside; particularly running, hiking, or skiing if it is wintertime.

Michelle Moore (Advisor)
As the mother of two independent daughters I was introduced to B3 via Sydney Kay when she announced she had just sent $600 of her own money to B3 and was headed to Ecuador in April of 2011, the rest is history! This will be my fifth year traveling with B3, my first three were with the Mejuntos Team, last year and this year, traveling with the Equipo Esperanza Team! My kids went on a combined total of six B3 trips and I have sat on the Advisory board since 2012. In my spare time I essentially play in the dirt and attend a ridiculous amount of weddings. (I have a small gardening business and work for an event florist).
