Discover Haverford and Haverford Township Launch Matching Facade Grant Program

Does the outside of your business need some work? Do you need a higher quality sign to attract customers? Do you want to replace windows or doors? Would you like to add plantings or window boxes? Now is a great time to start thinking about it!

Funds for this program are provided by Haverford Township through the American Rescue Plan Act to mitigate effects of the COVD-19 pandemic and it's effect on the business community. Through this program, the Township will match applicant’s investment in qualified improvements dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000.

Phase 1 of the program opened on March 1st, 2022 and ends on April 29th, 2022 at 4:00pm or when ten applications have been submitted. Click the link for details and the application.

We have been hearing reports from businesses that they are struggling to find employees. At times some have had to close or reduce their hours due to staffing shortages. We know there are good candidates out there and we want to help make that connection. To this end, Discover Haverford is organizing a jobs fair at the CREC at Haverford Reserve on Monday, May 16th from 4:00-7:00pm.

If you are a Haverford Township business with current openings for permanent or summer employees and you would like to participate in the jobs fair, please email Melissa at mbatchelor@hped.org.

If you cannot come to the jobs fair, you can still post open positions at businesses in the Township on our Discover Haverford Jobs web page. Email us at mbatchelor@hped.org with details about your job opening and contact information or a link to your website.

HPED is now rebranded as Discover Haverford

HPED has changed our name to Discover Haverford, which we feel better reflects our mission, includes a call to action, and is easier to remember. We will still legally be HPED, "doing business as Discover Haverford," but will primarily be using the name Discover Haverford for our work.

Plastic Bag & Straw Ordinance to be Considered

The Haverford Township Board of Commissioners is considering an ordinance with the goal to reduce plastic pollution through the promotion of reusable, compostable, and recyclable materials within the Township. The language proposes a ban on the distribution of single-use plastic bags and a small fee on paper bags. It also limits the distribution of single-use plastic straws to individuals who request them. The proposed ordinance is expected to have a first reading at the March 14, 2022 Board of Commissioners meeting. Contact your Township Commissioner if you have any questions or input.
