January 2022 Issue
Letter from the CEO
Dear fellow MACers,

Happy New Year! I wish you and your families a great 2022. This is a very exciting year for all of us. Can you believe we will be moving to The MAC this summer? We have a lot of work to do but well on our way. We are growing with new team members joining The MAC family and we are starting the Navigator hiring process (please see ‘Tell Me Something Good” section below). June will be here before we know it!

Ad Astra,
Meet the Team
The MAC is thrilled to announce that our team continues to grow! Meet our new Executive Administrative Coordinator and Navigation Managers. The team is located at Morgan's Wonderland Camp and is looking forward to meeting you all!
Crystal "Crissy" Torres serves as Executive Administrative Coordinator for The Multi-Assistance Center at Morgan's Wonderland. In her position, she will work as a liaison between The MAC and the Board of Directors and support officers and building operations. She was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and is currently a student at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is completing her Bachelors in Sociology with plans to complete her Masters in Social Work. Her journey to work in social services began in 2017 with a local non-profit as a receptionist. Shortly after, she transitioned into the Executive Administrative Assistant, where she worked to support operations staff and helped bridge the Board of Directors to the agency. Crissy's passion is to ensure that no individual with special needs goes without services and has the support they need to succeed.
Heather Long serves as a Navigation Manager for The Multi-Assistance Center at Morgan’s Wonderland. In her role, she is focused on performing comprehensive navigation services for MAC members and will provide supervision to navigators. Heather is a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and is a Licensed Social Worker. Heather has been a part of the non-profit community for the past 27 years. Before joining The MAC team, Heather held positions across several programs with The Arc of San Antonio for the last four years as Director of Family Support Services program. Heather finds passion and purpose by serving families and individuals who need help understanding programs and services.
Victoria Villafaña serves as a Navigation Manager for The Multi-Assistance Center at Morgan’s Wonderland. In her role, alongside Heather, she is focused on performing comprehensive navigation services for MAC members and will provide supervision to navigators. Victoria is a graduate from Texas A&M – Kingsville with a BA in Sociology/Psychology. Victoria has 18 years of experience in the non-profit community serving children with special health care needs and their families. Victoria’s passion is providing families with the education and tools to advocate for their child’s success.
MACer Spotlight
Project Angel Fares enjoys the distinct pleasure of providing all-expense-paid trips to families visiting Morgan's Wonderland. Because of Project Angel Fares, families of children with disabilities from across the nation have a unique opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind, Ultra-Accessible, fully-inclusive amusement park. As with all of Morgan's Inclusion Initiative entities, Project Angel Fares recognizes the importance and incredible capacity of The Multi-Assistance Center at Morgan's Wonderland and is excited to expand our support to assist MAC families. Working directly with the steering committee and navigators, Project Angel Fares will coordinate travel and transportation assistance to some of our most disproportionately impacted MAC families.

Word of the Month
Ultra-Accessible
/ˈəltrə əkˈsesəb(ə)l/

Provides a barrier-free environment for people of all ages and abilities. Everyone has the same opportunity to be included and participate intentionally in their community. A community should provide environments for people of all abilities set up for mobility, access, and success. Environments should include adaptations and accommodations which blend in seamlessly with the surroundings and never attract unnecessary attention to their use or existence.
MI2 Corner
Happy New Year, MACers from the Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative family. 2021 brought many smiles to many faces, thanks to everyone who stepped up and supported our many entities of inclusion. We are looking forward to 2022, where there is still so much to do! If you know of anyone looking to give to a worthy cause this new year, we hope you will let them know about us! There are many options to give, from donating stocks to one-time gifts. We have something for every budget.

On another note, if you know of someone who wants to do rewarding and important work, Morgan’s Wonderland and Morgan’s Wonderland Camp are looking to fill several staff positions. You can find out more information about both by visiting InclusionStartsHere.com. Of course, YOU are our biggest story of the New Year! We are excited to see The MAC up and running and serving the special needs community.

Again, Happy New Year, and we look forward to all the great possibilities in 2022.
