Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) is very happy to provide an update to the current
COVID-19 safety protocols that are in place for all sport programs and events.

Please review the updated COVID-19 safety protocols for your sport HERE.

The provincial government has announced their intention to remove the vaccine passport requirements on March 1st.  They have given individual organizations and businesses the option to continue utilizing the vaccine passport system as needed. SOO will continue to require vaccine declarations for all individuals who wish to attend in person training sessions. We maintain the position that vaccinations do have a positive impact on the overall health and safety of our members. Our mission is to ensure our athletes, coaches and volunteers feel safe when they attend a Special Olympics program so we will continue the vaccine declaration process beyond March 1st.  Please contact your head coach to receive the vaccine declaration form for your sport program.

In addition, effective March 1st, outdoor sports may begin informal racing, competition and training opportunities with a limited number of clubs in attendance. This is an exciting step forward to the Return to Competition pathway.

All sport programs will continue to use the Return to Program process to ensure minimal COVID-19 safety protocols are in place. Sports programs that have not completed the Return to Program process are asked to complete the necessary documentation outlined in the Return to Program website to get your program / event back in action.

This measured approach will be monitored and adjusted as we move forward, ensuring that equity and thoughtfulness is at the centre of all decisions.

Special Olympics Ontario continues to promote the importance of vaccinations to assist in the fight against the COVID-19 virus. If you require further information about the COVID-19 vaccine, please visit https://vaccinesupport.ca.

We recognize that several members of our organization remain hesitant to return to in person programs. Therefore, we will continue to provide opportunities to participate in virtual programs. Here is a list of the virtual programs currently available:
