MESSAGE FROM MAYOR KLING

Above L-R: NPD Officer Workman and K-9 Kyah, Kai, Mayor Kling, and Clay

This week I had the privilege of touring Elevate Academy Nampa, which is in its first school year. The tour was led by two students, Clay and Kai, who did an amazing job representing their school and sharing the many programs available.

As their website states, "Elevate Academy Nampa is a Career & Technical Education School serving students grades 6th through 10th (11th & 12th coming in 2023 & 2024)." Students are studying career opportunities in eight pathways.

I am continually amazed at the vast opportunities available within Nampa for our students and how important it is for us to encourage and support our young citizens. To learn more about Elevate Academy Nampa, visit their website!

#WeAreNampa

The Nampa School District has not run a bond election since 2007. A bond is different from a levy and has different purposes and restrictions. In general, bonds pay for facilities projects while levies are used for things like curriculum, programs, salaries, and operations. (A bond could be compared to a new truck, and a levy compared to the maintenance, gas and oil costs to keep it running.)

On March 14, Nampa voters will have the opportunity to vote on a bond which would support a number of projects including $100 million to replace Nampa High School. Click the flyer below to learn more at Nampa.School/2023Bond.

ARTWORK COMING TO DOWNTOWN

The Nampa community is invited to provide feedback on a new art installation currently under design to be installed at Lloyd Square in 2023.

On the front surface of each letter is a variety of words that consist of key figures, places and events representing Nampa’s culture and history. The above design is a concept used to demonstrate what the sculpture will look like, but the words that will be included have yet to be chosen.

The community is invited to participate in a brief survey to help determine the list of words to send to the artist to include in the final design by clicking link below.
