Eau Gallie High School's Choice Programs

Eau Gallie High School offers programs from the land, air, and sea!

On Tuesday, January 17th, Eau Gallie High School held its annual Choice Program night event for rising high school students and their parents. At the event, students and parents had the opportunity to learn about the ten special programs Eau Gallie has to offer! For instance, their Aviation/Private Pilot Program, which prepares students for a career in Aerospace, is the only high school program in the United States. The image on the left is a picture of Eau Gallie's airplane hanger on campus. The hanger includes a jet airplane, a prop airplane, and other aircraft that the students learn from. All of these aircraft have been donated to the program over time.

The other special programs are the Health and Wellness Academy, Cambridge AICE Program, Fine Arts Academy, ROTC- Air Force, Marine Mechanics, Tech Design, Digital Design, Automotive, and AVID Elective. Students can be enrolled in one or more programs at a time.

Through these programs at Eau Gallie, students earn certifications in specific specialties that help accelerate their college and professional careers. The BPS Communications team had the opportunity to attend the event and got a first-hand look at the programs' classrooms. We heard directly from the individual programs' teachers and staff about the unique opportunities.

Eau Gallie certainly has a lot to offer to students in Brevard County. It is also the only High School in Brevard County that offers a Marine Mechanics program! To learn more about their programs, visit their website.

New Beach Volleyball Programs

Brevard Public Schools is excited to announce our new Beach Volleyball program.

Last week, on January 13th, the Beach Volleyball program held its first clinic at Satellite High School. In total, nine different high schools participated in Friday’s clinic. Satellite HS, Merritt Island HS, Edgewood HS, Palm Bay HS, Viera HS, Bayside HS, Space Coast Jr/Sr, Eau Gallie HS, and Cocoa HS were all present at the clinic.

Although Titusville High School could not attend the clinic, they have a Beach Volleyball program in place. Also, Astronaut High School is starting a program this year.

Good luck to all the high schools participating!

"Aladdin the Musical" at Stevenson Elementary

On Friday, January 13th, the BPS Communications team attended Stevenson Elementary's Winter Solstice "Aladdin, Kids!" Performed by the 5th and 6th graders, the Aladdin musical was a spectacle! Each of the main roles was played by two different students (switching halfway through the musical). The main characters with split roles were Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, Jafar, Lago, and the Sultan.

Not only were the performances marvelous, but the set design and costumes were also impressive. The musical even featured set changes, lighting effects, and a fog machine!

One of our favorite parts of the performance was when the main characters transitioned on stage! When Aladdin became Prince Ali, the students swapped roles on stage behind a black curtain- almost like a magic show. Another incredible scene was the magic carpet ride. The floor sparkled with lights while the second-act performers danced around, holding a "magic carpet," that appeared as if they were floating off the stage.

Overall, Stevenson's musical was extraordinary! Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff involved for putting on a magical show.
