February may be the shortest month, but that doesn’t mean we were short on opportunities for engagement! Check out a recap of some of our activities this month. Additionally, meet our Spring 2022 Law Student Interns and hear from two PILI Alumni on their Black History Month reflections.

Coming up, PILI has more opportunities to get involved in helping those in need, including the 45th Anniversary Kick-Off Reception, a virtual CLE about adult guardianships, and a virtual drop-in clinic focused on evictions and other legal crises. We hope to see you soon!

  • Don't miss PILI's Virtual Drop-In Clinic on March 10th! The "Eviction & Other Legal Crises Clinic" will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 P.M. and will feature experienced housing attorney, Damon Ritenhouse, to discuss the current housing climate, and how you can make a difference with Illinois Free Legal Answers.   • PILI needs volunteers in the Third, Sixth & Tenth Judicial Circuits. We are spotlighting a few of these opportunities for which we are actively seeking pro bono volunteers at this time. Read more about them on our website.

This month, we connected with two PILI Alumni for their reflections on Black History Month. We are pleased to spotlight Vanessa Weathersby and Natanya Pope-Sohel.
This spotlight focuses on in intersection of Black History, the legal profession, and public interest law.

"Black history is American history. Therefore, we can all experience great pride when we learn about the many, varied accomplishments of our nation’s African American citizens." Vanessa said.

PILI is excited to introduce eight spring Law Student Interns who are working 200 hours during the semester at legal service agencies throughout Chicago.
