Significant Events in the Christian Community: A Recap of 2023

Greetings!

This newsletter aims to highlight notable religious events that took place in Vietnam during the year 2023. The following is a summary of some of these significant occurrences:

1.    "Spring of Love" was a remarkable event organized by various churches of different denominations in Ho Chi Minh City. The event consisted of a two-night evangelism crusade in partnership with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Rev. Franklin Graham delivered a powerful message that touched the hearts of approximately 10,000 individuals, leading them to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

2.    In the capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi, Christian Churches conducted an evangelical event on Easter Eve. More than 10,000 participants from different churches attended, and thousands of non-Christians embraced Christianity. Notably, representatives from various levels of the central government were present at both events.

3.    The Christian Missionary and Alliance (CM&A) organized a training program at the Institute of Bible and Theology (IBT) in Ho Chi Minh City. This program, held from July 4 to July 28, focused on training approximately 2,500 pastor wives.

4.    The Vietnamese Mission Center was established in Vieng Chan, Laos, marking the first overseas mission center built by the Vietnamese. The dedication ceremony for this center took place on October 10.

5.    The 102nd Anniversary and the 20th rebuilding of the Institute of Bible and Theology (IBT) were commemorated on November 30 in Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, a graduation ceremony for Master's Degree, B.Th., Diploma, and Women's class programs was held on the same day.

6.    The Full Gospel Churches of Vietnam received official recognition from the Vietnamese government on December 27.

7.    The Convention of Vietnamese Baptists (CVB) obtained official approval to establish the Vietnam Baptist Theological Seminary on December 27. This theological seminary was the first seminary of Baptist churches that was approved by the government.

8.    CCI initiated 11 new classes across the country, welcoming 488 new students. Additionally, five classes successfully graduated, resulting in 101 CCI graduates.

Evangelical events in Ho Chi Minh and Ha Noi City

Despite facing various challenges, the year 2023 was transformative and impactful for the religious landscape in Vietnam. We express our gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with pastors, church leaders, and devout individuals throughout the country.

I am filled with gratitude for the Lord who brought us into relationships as partners, together we are building the kingdom of Christ. Thank you for the bonds that were formed, the encouragement we received, and the accountability we experienced.

Lastly, on behalf of our team, I would like to thank God’s provision through you and his guidance throughout the entire year. As we enter a new year, I commit myself and my fellow pastors to serve our Lord wholeheartedly. Keep praying for our students who are being trained to continue to shape and mold them, and enable them to serve God faithfully and effectively.

Thank you so much for your faithful prayer, love and support.

Blessings,

Testimony

"After 2 years of studying with CCI, accurately describing what I have learned is not an easy task. The most important thing I have noticed is my growth in knowledge and serving skills within the local church. Firstly, I have become able to recognize and respond to some prevalent heresies in Vietnam. This newfound understanding has helped me identify the errors and dangers in their teachings. Secondly, as someone who used to be shy, I have now become bold in sharing the Gospel with my unbelieving parents. Even though they have not yet accepted Christ, the ability to share my faith and present the Gospel clearly and confidently, even in the face of opposition, is an achievement gained through my studies. I continue to persevere and share the good news with my parents whenever I have the opportunity."

  • Pray for God’s provision for teachers’ travels from village to village.

  • Pray to open more classes in the north and central, we need $500/month to support teachers’ travel.

  • Tribal Teachers Development Project - $1,000 every 3 months.
  • We praise God for the graduation ceremonies held in northern and central Vietnam in December. Please pray for these graduates, that they will apply their training to start new classes that train core leaders to serve in various ministries of their churches.
