Celebrate Sunday Mass at St. Alphonsus!

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini is the patron saint of immigrants. In the late 19th century, she worked to provide education for Italian immigrants in the U.S and is the first U.S citizen to be canonized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. Nov 13 is her feast day, so let’s pray for all those who work to support immigrants and refugees around the world.
EWTN will have programs celebrating the life and works of Mother Cabrini on their networks at 1 PM and 7 PM this Saturday.

November is designated as National Adoption Awareness Month. The Catholic Church recognizes the beauty of adoption as a reflection of God the Father adopting us as His sons and daughters.

Invite your friends/loved ones to Mass! Sunday Mass schedule in English is at 9 AM, 11 AM, and 5 PM. Mass in Spanish is at 12:30 PM.

The Archdiocese of Chicago has issued a statement that, in accordance with the city, masks will now be required at all liturgies, including Masses. You can read the statement here.

Bring Your Chocolate Treats to Mass! The Scouts of Troop 889 are again
collecting chocolate treats to share with homebound elderly in Chicago through the Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly – Chicago chapter, and we need your help! Scouts will be in the narthex after masses on November 21 collection your donations.
The Little Brothers charity works to relieve isolation and loneliness among its elderly friends by delivering household necessities, plus gifts and companionship. This year they ask for individually-wrapped chocolate pieces, suitable for including loose in a reusable plastic bin (rather than the rectangular boxes we have loved in the past). Little Brothers uses the example of Dove, Lindt, or Ghirardelli pieces, but any individually-wrapped pieces are great!

Dante 360 at ACTC

Sunday, November 14th at 3:00 PM

This year marks 700 years since the death of Dante Alighieri and it has been named the Year of Dante in Italy. His presence plays a significant part in our historic proscenium theatre; walking into the space you will look up to find a beautiful medallion of Dante meeting Beatrice.
We, too, join Italy and the world as we celebrate this renowned poet and invite you to join us for a special, one night only event, Dante 360.
Dante 360 will explore Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy through music, performance, and art. Featuring art Historian Elizabeth Lev, music by the Schola Antiqua, and performance by local Chicago talent.
As we come to the close on this Year of Dante, we invite you to help us celebrate his legacy, and that of our historic Athenaeum Theatre, which has Dante at its very center.
